They are two different codes.

Union = Thinking mans game
League = Cross country wrestling (and fingers up bums)

you need to understand that there are two rugby codes, union and league.

the six nations is an international tournament, and it is rugby union.

st helens however play rugby league, they are not a national team, the national team for rugby league is i think great britain (although i do remember an england team and a wales team in this code)

the most obvious differnce is the number of players, union has 15 and league has 13, league is also a much faster game than union

Yes, i know that St. Helens it´s a team of Merseyside, it´s not a national team. Only i do not like open two post for it, and i speak about the 6 nations and about St Helens here.

I like know more about rugby, coz i do not know very much. U see? In Spain the rugby it´s not a big sport, here are fews teams and they are very bad.

I woke my interest up for this sport, a little time ago. I would like to learn about it.

Marie,

As peewee said, you are talking about 2 different types of Rugby

RUGBY LEAGUE -
Played in the UK, New Zealand & Australia. This means that the international competition for this is quite limited. The strongest club league is in Australia (NRL) followed by UK.

Rugby Union -
Played in South Africa, New Zealand, Argentina, Australia, Great Britian, Italy, France, with a few minnows around like Canada, Japan, USA, etc.
This means that international competition for Union is far stronger. The world cup for Rugby has generally very good standard of competition. Incidentally Rugby Union is said to have begun when an english school boy could not be bothered using his feet in football, but rather picked up the ball and started running, William Ellis.

Few things you need to know about Rugby Union
- Australia are Best
- New Zealand absolutly destroy everyone else, except when it counts
- England have one player - Jonny
- South Africa, dirty cheating b@stards (just joking)
- Ireland never give up

If you need more info i suggest you get a biased view from another member on here called LFC#1 or visit this website

BTW, just received a PM about Bamaga man. He told me to post this.

- S.Africa - Known for being dirty (only by the Aussies though)
- Ireland - A very good team
- Australia - Not as good as they'll lead you to believe.

Have to agree about the all blacks being chokers. They have probably gone into every tournament as favourites and with the best team but haven't one since the very first one (South Africa not allowed enter that one), and it was at home.

I think France will win World Cup. They might bring on Zidane in the last minute so he can still get a medal :D

On the subject of the six nations rugby, what about Croke Park in Dublin, isn't it just awesome. would look well with red seats in Stanley Park and we could fill it!

Indeed, Croke park is awesome, particularly when King Henry is sending 45s over the crossbar on All Ireland Sunday. :blues:

I agree with Niall about France. They are experimenting with their lineup in the Six Nations yet will still win the Grand Slam, are at home and New Zealand are notorious for blowing it.

I could read about Croke Park, the news said: England return to scene of massacre. The news saids too, that england people, do not like play there.
Here is no tradition of rugby, so it was called me the attention ever. One would like to have discovered this sport before. I expect to be able to see the St. Helens when this I in Liverpool living and to continue learning on this sport, it is fascinating.
Thanks for the info again!!!! :)
