A Short History of Nearly Everything, is an amusing look through the major scientific breakthroughs (and collosul failures) of the last couple hundred years. He explains things in a fun and easy to understand way.

An excellent read.

Dan Brown is ok, good reading for travelling waiting in transit lounges etc.

aaah! sounds interesting, I will buy it when I go to a bookstore.

MH you will love it mate.

Have you read "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley? deals with similar themes I suppose. Very good read.

I never read it, but I heard that it has a  very similar theme to the movie "V for Vendetta" is that correct?

Well the Movie "Equilibrium" is also similar to 1984!

I read some books that deals with philosopy, and Paulo Choelo blew my mind with his books. The Alchemist is the best book I read from his writing. His philosophy is very easy to understand and I have applied many of his views in everyday life. I also read some old texts that dealt with philosopy, for example Machievelli's The Prince, which I thought was an excellent read that deals with prowess.

There is a book that I want to really read! it came out a few months ago, I don't remember who the writer is or what the book called, but I do remember that the book deals with proving god's existance through the notion of science and nature, its a modern book, so everyone who is thinking Renes Descartes, NO!  :D

I recommend Filth by Irvine Welsh and also Danny King's Hitman Diaries. I considered posting the Hitman Diaries to Quentin Tarrantino - it'd make a great film in the mold of a Pulp Fiction esque black comedy.

He is another must read book (for kids - but adults should still enjoy it)

Richards Adams - Watership Down

A wonderfully told story (fantasy) about the plight of a group of homeless rabbits. Brought me to tears everytime i read as a kid.

Anyone one over 12 would enjoy reading this.

Ok here is another must read IMO.

The Definitive Book of Body Language

I was very sceptical when i picked this book up (come from a science background, saw this as 'soft' science). But i must say, while i don't accept everything in the book, it has been very useful, especially in board rooms and when pushing through proposals.

Who should read it?
- Every single male on the planet (seriously, chicks have an innate advandtage over us, this book helps even the score)
- Any young lad in school and college (oh yeah)

:D . come on, some of the books mentioned are quiet light reading. But I wanted a list of books that you would reccomend to everyone (and i wished i had read that body language book while i was still at uni). I am going to borders on saturday and from this thread i have 3 books i want to buy.

Maybe i should just go and chase some skirt. :p
