I love Cristiano Ronaldo, what an excellent player, just a fraction behind Lionel Messi.

What has Ronaldo done in big games - I know he scored 1 header in the CL final (before missing his penalty) but look at all his games against Chelsea,Arsenal,LFC, Other big CL games, Portugal in previous championships.

He is the big man for the little occasion.

I don't know why but I have a really horrible feeling that Portugal may knock Spain out for some reason.

Personally I hope Spain destroy them but I can see it being a really niggly game. Hope the manager sticks with Torres.

Not match fit, so theres probably an arguement for going with Fabregas, however I reckon he'll start scoring soon.

1 loss and you're out. Wonderful player but either injured, or not fit or whatever. Spain have plenty of options and I'd drop him. Look at Ronaldo and Adriano last world cup (or Rooney this one), you don't win the world cup with a rubbish player (or an excellent player in rubbish form) up front.

I remember that thunderbolt he scored in Porto when they had to score to progress to the semis. He also scored a fairly decent freekick against Arsenal and finished off an amazing team move with Rooney at the Emirates. Fairly sure he scored against Inter Milan, Roma and AC Milan, too. Come to think of it, wasn't he the champions league top scorer the season they won it?   Other than that I suppose he doesn't deliver on the big stage

Torres has been called Spains Heskey

Not by anyone with a clue.

the article in question was by sid lowe - just about the best football journalist the guardian has to offer. his idea is that the similarity lies in the fact that so far the main achievements of torres has been to create space for villa to score his goals, much as heskey was there to make space for rooney. the difference being of course, that with heskey it was intentional and a pretty rubbish tactic, whereas with torres it has been because he hasn't been on scoring form himself.
