No excuses, Spain didn't impress yesterday either. 2-0, but too many mistakes. Another team could have done harm. Torres is coming from injury so he has a good reason, but Xavi made many mistakes.

Del Bosque doesn't seem to be sure of what's he's doing.

So no Vuvuzuelas, I'd talk about a badly worked team and the doubts that come.

That said, if you look at the quality, Spain are superior to most of the rivals from the goalie to the last of the strikers. When you have Fabregas and Reina in the bench, it says it all.

But we'd better improve or we might be out on Friday.

I'm not that worried about Spain TBPH.  Against the Swiss they bossed the game without threatening a goal.  Yesterday they bossed the game, missed a shedload of chances and still won 2-0 at a canter.  For me that says that they are playing to their strengths and keeping composed as they gradually find their shooting boots.  When they do, they'll be back to their frightening best and will be virtually unplayable.  If Torres can shake off some of the rust and if Villa can build on the platform he established yesterday, I think they'll see off Chile without too much difficulty and find another gear in the next round.  The side oozes class from top to bottom and will be there or thereabouts as we get to the business end of the tournament.

So, last matches of the Group Stages.  Surely one of these big European sides is making an early exit: France, England, Germany, Italy, Spain.  Any predictions?

France are doomed. The rest will scrape through imo.

Be some crackers in the next round though. Looks like it could be Holland-Italy, Brazil-Chile and Spain-Portugal. Could even be England-Germany and Argentina-Mexico/Uruguay.

I think France, England and Italy are big possibilities to go home in the group stage and I don't think anyone can have a complaint about that. All three teams do not deserve to qualify. I think Spain will just edge it and there's too much being made about Germany, I think they'll beat Ghana to qualify top of the group.
