Juventus fire sale - Who would you want?

International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

To be honest, off the Juve team, the only player i'd take would be Cannavaro. Maybe Trezeguet as we're short up front. But I think Cannavaro is the only player that would get into the team ahead of what we already have.

*EDIT

Well Buffon as well but I don't think he'd be worth what we'd have to spend to get him.

Rather like Scolari thinking that the star of Sawn Lake, Cristiano Ronaldo is 'innocent'.  :D

Reports: Juve Relegated
Updated: 10:43, Friday July 14, 2006

Italian newspaper reports claim Italian Serie A champions Juventus have been relegated and docked 20 points.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport they have already been handed the results of the match-fixing trial.

Four top Italian football clubs - Juventus, AC Milan, Fiorentina and Lazio - and 25 officials will find out the Italian Football Federation verdicts after 6pm tonight.

The reports say none of the four clubs implicated will be allowed to play in European competition next season.

It also says Juventus will be joined by Fiorentina and Lazio in Serie B with points deductions - 20 points in Juve's case.

AC Milan will stay in the top division - but with a 10-15 point deduction, according to claims.

Lucianno Moggi They are accused of conspiring to rig matches in the top Serie A division during the 2004/05 season.

Juventus are at the centre of the scandal, which erupted in May when phone taps revealed the club's former general manager Luciano Moggi had discussed refereeing appointments with officials from the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).

Individuals found guilty risk bans from the sport.

Italy's World Cup triumph in Germany has prompted calls for a general amnesty, but FIGC commissioner Guido Rossi has consistently rejected the idea.

All those found guilty can appeal, but the appeals process must be completed by July 25 - the deadline set by UEFA for the FIGC to submit the list of teams for next season's Champions League and UEFA Cup competitions.

Hmm 20 point deduction may wreak havoc. I know Juve want to only loan out their best players so they cna return once Juve get back into Serie A, but I can't see that happeneing with a 20pt deduction. I don't think many clubs will accept two year loan deals either, it will be 1 year with an option to buy or nothing.

Do Juventus keep their league title?

Doubt it.

Marseille were stripped of theirs in 1993 as they fixed their title-clinching league game against ASOA Valence-Clime so they could focus on the CL final against Milan, which they won.
They got stripped of their league title, relegated, and banned from defending the CL.

Surely Juve will be stripped also.
