Admittedly i dont know much about Mexico but i would be astonished if they got near the semi's never mind winning the whole tournament.

For top goalscorer Baros is worth a shout again, i backed him in the European Championships with a cheeky tenner and also Larsson, i might do the two of them again. Not sure what odds they are though. Czech Republics group is one of the toughest but Milan scores goals at that level and will be hoping to impress to get away from Villa.
Larsson is in his last major tournament and with Paraguay and Trinidad and Tobago in there group then he has the chance to get a few in the group stages that they should surely qualify from.

What odds dya reckon you would get on Stevie G for highest scoring midfielder ? Probably pretty low but maybe worth a punt anyway.

Might stick a cheeky bet on one of the German strikers, someone like Klose again.  They're the hosts so history would suggest they'll at least reach the semi-finals, and they're in the weakest group where they have the potential to rack up quite a few goals.  Come to think of it I'm going to check the odds on Ballack being top scorer.

I'd say the Brazilian strikers are rightly the bookies favourites.  How many times has Ronaldo been written off?  And then there's Adriano who's only scored about 2 goals since January, so a player of his calibre is due a purple patch soon...

I would not rule out Horseface chalking a few up for Holland...he's got plenty to prove to a lot of different people and when he gets in the mood, he can really rack the goals up quickly.

I wouldn't write Mexico off, on their day they can beat anyone. They are a lot like all the other South Americans they can be hit and miss at times, but some of the football they play is out of this world. It's how football should be played everywhere, beautiful stuff.

I've watched a bit of Mexico and they are a good outfit.  Could be the surprise package but can't see them winning it...

Not really writing them off, just basing my opinion on past perfomances and the lack of top players.
They may play some good stuff and should progress through there group, but again as i said if they got near the semi final i would be shocked.

Ace,

England have a lot of top players but they don't get anywhere. Mexico have top players Fonseca, Bravo, Pardo, Marquez ( as you know) so there is quality in that squad. Mexico have a much better chance than England at winning the World Cup. Mexico have top players, Mexico have the right attitude and right mentality that can deliever them the cup.

People can write Mexico off till the cows come home, it's no secret that the Mexicans thrive when they are branded under-dogs. They're the team to watch this World Cup.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that they will win it but they have a much better chance than a few teams that are being branded favourites. If you're basing your views on friendles, I wouldn't bother, it's no secret that Mexico tinker and experiement with new players in friendlies, friendlies don't bother them.

It will be interesting to see how they fair this World Cup. But as I said on their day they are unbeatable. The burning question is, will it be their day everyday throughout the WC?

Typical ignorance from an England fan. Lets get something straight here. Who is able to perform when it matters England or Germany? Germany.

Who cares about more about friendlies and qualifiers, England or Germany? England.

Who gets further in the competition 9x out of 10? Germany?

Who got called :censored: by the English fans and then went to the final of the 2002 World Cup? Germany.

Sure you can argue that England thumped Germany 5-1, but lets not kid ourselves the Germans didn't bother playing in that match.

Who beat England at final home game at Wembley? Germany

Germany - :censored:, don't make me laugh, write Germany off at your own pearil as they are deliever when it matters.

"I'm off"...yeah, right--I just knew you wouldn't stay away mate!  :D

This, by the way, is neither a wind-up nor a p!ss-take but, rather, is an honest question...

How much of Mexico have you seen of late and against whom?

I ask because I thought that they were fantastic in the last WC.  I was gutted when they lost to the feckin' Americans after coming so far.  It seems that many of their key players from 02 have retired or are getting on now, though (esp. Blanco and Borgetti).  Personally, I haven't seen them play since 02 but I wasn't expecting much from them this time around TBH, especially given the group they've drawn.  I'll be well pleased if they have another crack at it, though!

I watched them in the Confederations cup last year. And I've watched them a few times since then as well. Borgetti has still got it Bob. I think his experience will be crucial for Mexico.

Never really got a proper crack of the whip at Bolton this season, did he?  I was hoping to see more of him and see how he faired in the English game.

No he didn't get much of a chance at Bolton. Altho he did score today Bob against Holland but they ended up losing 2-1 to Holland. He scored a nice header on the 18th minute.

0asis I wasn't writing Germany off - I was predicting they will reach the final. They reached last final with a cr*p side and I think this side at home will do so as well. but believe me they are cr*p at the moment (booed off in last match) but like you say they perform when it matters. The 5-1 thrashing was'n that they didn't bother playing, they just panicked, pushed forward too much and England (Liverpool)hit them on the break (3 times).

Fair enough mate, I weren't having ago at you, it's just every World cup and European Championship they are written off by so many people and as I've said they always play when it matters. They have a habit of playing poorly in the qualifiers and then when it comes to the crunch they play very well. The Germans are just like that and media and football fans often fall into the trap of writing them off and then they scratch their heads when Germany get to the semi final etc.  :D
