OK,international week and im bored.North and South have massive matches and World Cup hopes hang in the air. What better time to pick your greatest ever player? My personal opinion is that Paul McGrath is the finest player ever to wear a green jersey, but hey, what do i know?Georgie Best is the obvious favourite but you should look seriously at my little list.Blanchflower was a catalylst for Spurs success in the sixties,Keane and Giles the same for Utd and Leeds in the nineties and seventies,Best was arguably the most talented player these islands have ever produced,Jennings the greatest goalkeeper and Paul McGrath(i couldnt give a boll.ox what anyone says, they know feck all) the finest defender ever to set foot on a field.Derek Dougan was a fearless striker who rose above petty squabbles to organise an impressive all Ireland football team to face Brazil in the early seventies.Irish/Englishmen like Mark Lawrenson,Andy Townsend,Mick McCarthy and our own John Aldridge wore the green shirt with distinction,Scots/Irish like Ray Houghton also. Other names just off the top of my head,Shay Given,Staunton,Irwin,Moran,Whiteside,Robbie Keane,Duff,O`Leary,Givens,Liam Whelan,Stapleton,Martin O Neill,Pat Rice,Nelson,Quinn,Mcilroy....hey,you know what i mean, theres a few players to pick from.I just know that eleven of our finest Irishmen would have given eleven of the finest Englishmen a helluva game. :D

George Best was one of the greatest players I have ever seen.It was a pity he never had the opportunity to play in a world cup.Off the field he was a fool to himself, although saying that Iwould of loved a night out on the town with him.

On the otherside of the coin Pat Jennings,a brilliant goalkeeper and a model proffesional on and off the field. Not sure but Ithink he is the most capped player to be on Evertons books although I dont think he played a game for them.
