You'll be more annoyed if ours closes before the season starts then!

Odds on Lemar have dropped to level with Arsenal. Still very quiet

Unlike some of the posters here, I feel the window is a major success. We've added to attack in Salah/Solanki, to midfield with Ox and Keita. Now adding VVD to the defense would mkw this the best window ever. I would NOT pay 90 millions pounds for Lenard---no need for us to be mugged. Really excited about this season.

Quite a few players in the squad we dont really seem to have a role for atm.

Assuming Coutinho stays, we'll have this:

Starting 11:

Mignolet
Clyne
Lovren
Matip
Moreno
Henderson
Wijnaldum
Lallana
Coutinho
Mane
Firmino

Rotation players:

GK Karius
GK Ward
DF TAA
DF Gomez
DF Klavan
DF Robertson
MF Can
MF Milner
MF Grujic
MF Woodburn
MF Chambelain
FW Salah
FW Sturridge
FW Origi

Others:
Bogdan
Sakho (25mill ?)
Flanagan
Markovic
Kent
Solanke
Ings
Brannagan
Ejaria
Allan

I'd like to see some of the kids go out on loan for some experience. It's always good to have first team experience at a high level and you'll never know what they're made of until they get that experience. You can almost destroy the careers of some good players by not sending them out (Suso escaped and is doing great in Italy) on loan.

Outside that, the likes of Sakho, Markovic and Ings should also be moved on. I dont understand us rejecting 25mill for Sakho and holding out for 30. He's a very good CB but the market just isn't there for him and we're risking losing significant money by rejecting offers. Markovic is a similar story, rejecting 10mill just to send him out on loan ?

If players like Kent and to a lesser extent Woodburn arent going to get significant minutes then they should be allowed to go out on loan to the right clubs. Both potential starters for the club in the future.

Oh and add to that a solid Robertson signing, alongiwth TAA JoeGomez and Moreno coming along with Clyne and Milner as well, we're now incredibly well stocked in the full back department.

Yes I agree we could do with another CB but the squad health/quality looks amazing overall.

Nothing to do with that it's just another 24hrs before everything's settled with regards to Couts

Van Dijk has left Southampton's training ground. If anything is happening with him it'll be soon

The whole VVD situation is odd. Unless we were confident of signing him all along, makes no sense to not have a backup plan. Are we somehow obliged to go all out for VVD because he made some of the antics on our behest?

According to Paul Joyce (who is about as respected as it gets when it comes to all things LFC) we could potentially stun football today by signing Van Dijk, Lemar, Oxlade-Chamberlain AND keep Coutinho. Apparently that is FSG's plan.
By even attempting to do that LFC is sending out the message that this club is back in the race, it doesn't matter who we sign or what deals fall through, what matters is the intent, we are going for it big time, the Liverbird is emerging from the ashes like a Phoenix.
So instead of whinging let's think back 6/7 short years to when the height of our ambition was a past it Joe Cole, Paul Konchesky and Christian Poulson.
Today is the 31st August 2017, Jurgen Klopp is our manager, we are still at our spiritual home Anfield which holds 50 odd thousand and looks absolutely magnificent, we are in the CL, we have just trashed Arsenal 4-0 playing a brand of football that has the footballing world purring, we have told one of the 2 Spanish giants that they can't have our best player and we are attempting to go on a last day spending spree that will transform us into genuine title and even CL challengers if it comes off.
Anyone whinging today needs to seriously give their head a shake.

Seeing Arsene panic buying is a comedy. He's now willing to bid £90M for Lemar, 50% above his previous "highest bid"

I have a feeling that after this season, players like Coutinho will be hsppy to syay at Anfield and enjoy our brsnd of football

If Van DijK and Coutinho stay at their clubs they must feel like right plonkers. Van Dijk training alone and couts with his so called back pain. Both dreaming of being elsewhere yet still stuck at the same club. :D

The uber reliable James Pearce has said that we won't be doing any more business. Looks like Monaco wanted too much for Lemar (€100m) and Southampton stuck to their guns over VVD. Unless those clubs shift position in the next few hours (which is unlikely) then we are done in terms of incomings.
Still, it's been a good window imo. The main thing was keeping Coutinho, his link up with Salah looked unbelievable in pre season and I can't wait to see that in the prem. The likes of Robertson and Solanke have looked solid signings too.
We secured Keita for next season as well which is a huge coup.
Pity about not getting a CB but can't have everything I suppose.
Nice work FSG  :bowdown
