Interesting read from a supposed insider - Transfer speculations

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Hi guys, Dont posty alot here, love reading though.

I got this from another forum, I know how most hate
speculation, but this guy does get alot right and some
wrong. Make up your own minds and please if i have put
this topic in the wrong place, moderators do what you will
with it. All credit to 'dmjn100'.

-----------------------------------------------------------
Following Rafael Benitez's outburst's after the Champions league Final, where he claimed that all the new owners do is 'Talk Talk Talk' - some may think there is no activity going on at all - that is way of the mark.

Benitez's outburst has been put down to the loss to AC Milan and heated feelings felt after the game.

But there is genuine worries where Benitez is concerned that -

The Americans are acting far too slow in securing his targets & thats his gripe - its not that they wont spend.

They will spend and spend big.

The problems is, as Benitez see's it - is the Americans due to their own commitments Stateside have no-one over here to 'Sign the cheques'.

Rafa seriously see's Rick Parry as the weak link in the Liverpool chain & it looks likely Parry will soon be ousted by Hicks.

Gilletts son Foster will shortly be arriving in Liverpool.

He will be living & working here & will also be taking over the role that Parry has had for many years.

Benitez & Parry talk , but there is little to no work relationship now.

I understand that Parry will be kept on at Anfield - but will feature only in a much reduced role at Anfield - working under Foster.

Parry has been successful in negotiating deals for Simao - I was told that a financial bid was accepted, contrary to the words issued from Parry -
*One thing Liverpool wigs dont want is to have all there targets pinched from other BRITISH clubs - mainly Chelsea & Manchester United.*

So as much as it can be its being hushed up.

Regarding Simao, I understand that further negotiations are now taking place because Benfica are showing a big interest (as I said 2 weeks ago) in bringing Djibril Cisse to Portugal.

This is causing some problems because Liverpool gave Marseille first option on the Frenchman, but it seems as if they want him for a substantially lesser amount than that of the deal agreed a year ago.

On top of that Cisse's agent is trying to panic Liverpool by claiming that his client will not be pushed around - but I understand Cisse would goto Benfica as he would see Champions League football.

Other targets include Gabriel Milito - i understand that a fee is agreed with his current club & is 'very close' to joining the Reds.

Dani Alves has been a Benitez want for 2 years and again - his club Seville have given there word to the Brazilian he can leave.

Liverpool have agreed a fee - which is believed to be the required release clause amount - but this transfer is slightly complicated - due to 2 other clubs - mainly Barca.

I have been told that he will sign for Liverpool after La Liga finishes. The details have been sorted - and Alves wants to move to Liverpool.

Barring a major change or collapse, he will be confirmed a Liverpool player shortly.

As for the strikers -

I think I have made it clear Benitez wants Carlos Tevez -

Talks have been ongoing for what seems ages now & the fee will be 20-25 million.

Reports of 40 million are way of the mark.

I know for Fact, Mascherano has told his Anfield team-mates that Tevez has told him he wants to join Liverpool & he's been discussing & I quote "His probable move to Liverpool".

The other strikers mentioned are as we know Sammy Eto'o, Torres & Villa.

Talks have taken place between Barca & Liverpool regarding a possible swap + cash deal for Eto'o & Alonso.

Barcelona will shortly bid for Alonso & it remains to be seen if a deal can & will be reached.

Benitez is prepared to let him leave as he has Mascherano & now the incoming Sebastian Leto from Atlético Lanús. He would like to keep Alonso but he has shown when he offers a player a contract & they stall, he is ruthless.

A possible transfer thats appeared out of nowhere is that of French International Winger Florent Malouda.

Press reports suggest that Malouda is an 8 Million target - but I have heard nothing about it. - Maybe its on - maybe its a smokescreen.

He is very good though.

His current boss has told potential buyers that they have until the end of June to bid for him or he will remain their player.

Malouda has said the same - He says " If the teams who have been watching me dont make there interest formal & come in for me - I will take that as they dont rate me as highly as I thought they did , so I will stay".

I will try and find out more. But as yet I have heard nothing.

Lastly - and probably most interestingly is the news that Steven Gerrard has spoken to George Gillett & Tom Hicks about the re-signing of Michael Owen.

The quotes that have been in the press in the last two days were made when the Americans arrived, but Gillett said publicly last Thursday of Owen - "He is a great player but it is down to Rafa's recommendation, not us," - "If Rafa wants Owen we will pursue his request".

I have always maintained on the forum that Benitez wouldnt have Owen back because of what he see's as Owens disloyalty & nothing has changed there - but its hard to believe that should all his 'top targets' fail, he wouldnt look at the possibility of bringing Owen 'home'.

The news that Newcastle are again to bid 10 million for Peter Crouch is causing some to say that a swap deal - no cash included - is on the cards - but I highly doubt it will happen.

Lastly im told by my man in Liverpool that Momo Sissoko is very close to leaving Liverpool as is Harry Kewell.

Sissoko has told Benitez he loves Liverpool, but he wants to play & if Benitez cant promise him games that he'd like to leave. That could well happen within two weeks.

Harry Kewell looks likely to be on the move - with either Spurs or Villa destinations for the Aussie.

He is one of Liverpool's biggest earners and Rafa is prepared to let him go - even though as he in the final year of his contract will be allowed to go for only 2 million

I hope this proves interesting to some.

Im outty to work.

Lator gators.

I lost interest at this point, when did Rafa say this, when was this supposed outburst?

Virtually everyone knows of Benitez outburst after the
CLF. Now, if he said "Talk,Talk,Talk" or put it another way
from what i have read on various sites, it virtually means
the same thing. Take it any way you want.

I'd hardly call it an outburst or a direct attack on the new owners, it's not as if we haven't heard these things before.

He said:
"I am tired of us always talking and talking,". "We talk and talk, but we never finish. Talking to players we want to sign for anything up to six months, then losing them, bothers me greatly.

"We cannot let it happen again. I made Valencia champions for the first time in 31 years, but the board decided there was no need to improve. The next season, we finished fifth.

"It is a situation I have been keeping an eye on here over the last few years, because people have been saying we are getting close to the title when we are not. "

Your article says it was an outburst at the "new owners", hardly, more an attack on Parry if anything for being slow in player acquisition in the past.

That, I can understand, but the new owners have just set foot at Liverpool, they were not responsible for missing out on previous transfer targets under Parry and Moores.

Your exactly right. Having said that, Benitez does want
signings to happen alot quicker under the new owners
and not stall, losing out on his number one targets.
I would assume, the "talk,Talk,Talk" would have been
directed at parry as you said if anything.

Anyway, the rest of the post is an interesting read and people on this forum can take out of it what they like. Im just passing it on as
its silly season.

I suppose we will find out how right or wrong this 'insider' really is.
I hope most if not all come true. :grinning:

I know it's just an article by someone who thinks they are a footballing "prophet", and some of it could be right, but I wouldn't attribute to much credence to posts like this.

We can all prognosticate and some of us will be correct but I doubt this "insider" has anymore insight than any of the rest of us.

Me too!

Maybe if you had wrote the article yourself I'd ask a few questions, but it's the kind of end of season article you get from time to time.

Hmm, after a bit of transfere activity at other clubs (namely the filth's) I'm already getting a bit impatient myself. I'm already sick of hearing speculation about Eto'o, Villa, Tevez etc etc. Too many times in the past have we all heard this, talked about it, got excited, and proclaimed it as truth, only to see we've signed the likes of Cisse and Smicer come the summer! It's :censored:! Until these players are signed, and I see them holding up a Liverpool home shirt with Rafa himself inside Anfield, I'll just stay my excitment.

Nah, seriously, Out of some of the players mentioned in the article,
i would love to see Villa and Tevez switch over. havnt seen much of malouda, will go check the the thread on him and see what people are saying. Forgot simao, now i wouldnt mind him either. Either which
way it seems there are going to be big changes happening over the transfer period.

Cant wait.

This isn't interesting at all.

I doubt this guy is an insider. Mostly all of the info in that "article" is on the internet already. Who we're supposedly interested in, I mean. Seems like he just read it, and went on from there..

This isn't much different to Welsh Wizzard's stuff, really.

I don't trust a single word of that rumour.

Because curiously enough, every single point, EVERY SINGLE POINT and names that are mentioned in that article can be read in the gossips of this forum, and probably others. The classics Villa-Eto'o-Torres. Torres a overrated player that always makes it in to the rumours, and actually I preffer Kuyt rather than him. Bah.

If it was an insider, at least he could have brought a couple of surprises, as the clubs always sign someone that the fans do not expect.

I preffer uncle Albert.
