Of course he was played on by Trent…

FT: Liverpool 2-2 The Bridesmaid

We gave them the point...could have given City a chance to catch them

f*cking Michael Owen can't stand him. Booed by my own people, what the hell did they expect? f*cking Coutinho was more of a hero to sign a contract and then leave than these coward rats.

Oh well,

They deserved to come back they were way better than us in 2nd half, we just went into cruise control, sh1t mode.

We had them in first half and could've finished them off.

Had the feel of an end of season game with very little riding on it which is exactly what it was, doubt Trent will ever forget it though.
I'm sure the symbolism of a high profile scouser essetially turning his back on his home town club cheered a few of this city's biggest detractors up but i firmly believe the older Trent gets the more he will come to regret his decision. As you get older its surprising how much things like family tree's and where you come from start to mean. What seemed a good idea at 26 won't automatically be viewed the same way at 76.
Anyway i'm sure his decision cheered Kelvin McKenzie up and Maggie would have been proud of him.

I can get fans frustrated with Trent but the booeing doesn't help. We were still in the driving seat (2-1) and had a game to be won. So what will happen when Trent picks the trophy, are we going to spoil the party and boo every time he lifts it or gets near the crowd.

Slot shouldn't have bought him on considering what's been going on.

As someone perceived to be turning his back on his boyhood club and place of birth in order to personally enrich himself and to increase his chances of achieving personal glory [he wants to win the ballon d'or, apparently] Trent has pretty much become an embarrassment at this point, especially in a city where loyalty is valued above all else.
Love Arne but you're right mate, he should have read the room, Trent shouldn't have come on, what we saw was ugly but inevitable im afraid. Trent should just pack his bags and eff off to Madrid now, thats clearly where he wants to be, he can eff off and go stay with 'Beller's' and all his other plazzy mates, he should just leave and leave us alone to enjoy the title celebrations. He would have always been viewed as a traitor in this place but he could have at least left in a way where the club got a few bob for him to help with a re-build but he chose to stuff his own pockets instead.
Idon't give an eff where he was born the self-centred greedy so and so couldnt be further from being a scouser if he tried.

Frustrating considering we were 2-0 up.

Trent: There's an interview with Kenny on his first day of training at Melwood. He was asked why he left Celtic and his response was 'Ambition.' Trent has left LFC for the same reason so why is there a difference? Incoming players with ambition are ok but outgoing are not? LFC fans need to grow up.

Liverpool and Glasgow whilst similar are two different city's, if you are born here you are expected to be loyal to the place, that's just the way it is. The reasons are many and complex and veer into many area's including history and politics and religion and culture etc.
Trent will know himself that he has committed a cardinal scouse sin.

But Liverpool is up there with the very best, we're competing for the biggest titles, hell we just won the most difficult league in the world! There is nothing in terms of football he would get in Madrid that he can't get with us.

Hopefully we win the CL next year like we did after Owen left

I don’t think he will get anywhere near the team spirit at Madrid, they have their share of toxic characters, and the Spanish press are brutal and he’ll probably have race issues at some point over there. As soon as he has a poor game the knives will be out.

I gave my tickets away for this one. Wasn’t interested in witnessing first hand the inevitable behaviour of our fans which went some way towards us losing the game. Reg makes a very good point about Kenny. Having lived on Merseyside all my life I struggle to agree with Yakka’s summation of the situation. Over the years there have been numerous Liverpudlian successful businessmen that have to moved abroad or to other  parts of this country to better themselves.I don’t necessarily agree with what Trent is doing but I certainly don’t think he deserves to be treated in such an incredibly morose manner having given over 20 years of his life to LFC and contributing massively towards the club winning several major trophies. It’s rumoured that Liverpool have offered Trent considerably more than he is getting from RM. The suggestion is that we offered £11m and RM have agreed circa £8m. No doubt RM will be paying Trent a meaningful signing on fee.
Net Spend Over The Last 5 Years 20/21 to 24/25  (10 years
are in brackets 15/16 to 24/25 )
LFC €300m (€420m)
Everton +€33m (€211m)
Arsenal €557m (€853m)
Spurs €571m (€684m)
Chelsea €945m (€1051m)
Man City €370m (€1038m)
Man United €687m (€1240m)

Had we received a sweet fee things would have felt different, like all wanted.

However, unless people can put forth any solid evidence, a lot of stuff is speculation. The stories of us offering him loads, stories of Trent spoken to Real few years ago and if his plan was always to run down the contract "under Madrids conditions", so they could get him on free. Don't get me wrong it could be that but it's just speculation. Unless anyone can pull out some evidence. We can add pieces of the puzzle but it's just rumours.

BTW not on team Trent or anything.

To be fair to Trent, he hasn’t said much and everyone has been heating up on press speculation. He has chosen not to comment except once to say he needed a change and the rest has been what people read in the press. He played a part in us winning the league so he absolutely deserves to be at the parade. Liverpool supporters are known for supporting the team and players through thick and thin, he’s getting more flak than El Hadji Diouf and he really was a c.unt.

I don’t think Trent is leaving for money or even trophies, he’s lived in Liverpool his whole life and he fancies a change. I wish he had shown more loyalty to the club by signing a new contract with a buyout clause and let the club benefit, but his desire for warmer weather, different food etc doesn’t really offend me. At least he’s not moving to a premier league side in London. If he plays again I’ll support him and if he plays against us I won’t wish him luck. He doesn’t go out drinking or night clubbing before matches, he’s been a true professional, low key and has done plenty in the community. He’s probably done more to help his community than 90% of the people that are booing him. Some players are c.unts and deserve flak, I can’t see Trent in that bracket.
