If we don't sign anyone this month to replace Coutinho then make sure you savour every moment of this years CL because we won't be in it next year.
If Jurgen try's to go with what he's already got (like he did with the defence in the summer) then batten down the hatches because the second half of the season will be one hell of a ride. Lallana is no Coutinho.

Echo and Radio 5 saying Klopp wants Lemar. Some other reports also saying we'll also make a move for Oblak too.

The only problem is - if we can't get them now - Klopp will hold until the summer. He doesn't usually compromise on his A targets.

It's hard to see where an attacking midfielder would fit in to be honest. Mane, Salah and Firmino are 3 who will start most games. Keita has played the majority of the past 2 seasons as an attacking midfielder through the middle. Lemar and Mahrez are both good players but it would be hard to find a balanced way of integrating 3 wide players + an attacking midfielder and Firmino into the side. For all intents and purposes, Keita will be our Coutinho replacement.

If we can find a top striker in the summer it would be a better move than bringing in another attacking midfielder imo. It's a lot easier finding/signing good defensive players in January, I say we do that and give the players half a season to adjust to the club and league. In the summer we should make minimal changes and try to go into next season ready to challenge with a better/more balanced side.

This is my worry. Klopp is very selective about who he brings in and if he can't get the players he wants in i'm not convinced he will have many alternatives on his list. We struggle our primary targets in the summer window, God know's what we are going to do in 3 and a half weeks left in Jan. The only thing i'm holding onto is that imo the Coutinho deal was tied up a while ago and we have already identified our targets and sounded out their availability so maybe we are somewhat positive in bringing them in. Who know's, but at the moment, it really is going into a case of the unknown

With Alonso we reacted with Aquilani.

Torres- Suarez and Carroll

Suarez- Ballotelli :D

Sterling- Ibe we thought will be his successor

Now Coutinho lets see what happens.

With regards to Coutinho, let's put it this way, if Barca were to have offered 142 million pounds in summer, most of us would have have said sell and that he is never worth that much. It is an astonishing money. I was doubting that Coutinho was worth even 80 million pounds in summer and when they offered 100 million and we rejected, I was pleasantly surprised. Like Suarez, I believe, in this case, that the club held on to him as much as they could. I believe in what Klopp said that. Like it not players will move, it is just a matter of time. Even Barca weren't able to hold on the Neymar. In this case I am encouraged by the fact that we made Barca pay a good fair amount. It definitely wasn't easy for them to land Coutinho. They paid through their teeth. I am glad that we are not losing our stars cheaply like previous times, like Owen, Macmanaman, even Suarez to a certain extent. Remember it seems like it was only this season's performances that made the majority of the fans feel that Coutinho was the real deal (myself not included, Couts was always my favourite player since Suarez left). One could look at several posts on his thread saying that he is inconsistent, blows hot and cold etc.

Now, going forward, it's a matter of how we strengthen the team with this money. We may not be able to immediately replace his this season and I believe this is what most of us are complaning. This season is disrupted. We just have to trust Klopp.

Im convinced the deal for Coutinho was agreed ages ago and it gave us time to sound out replaxements. Really do think we will see an incoming or two pretty soon. We have been preparing for this for a while now imo amd knew he was off in the last quarter of last year

I really do hope we have a plan, I really do. But I won’t hold my breath. After all we’ve had years to plan for a better defence and GK and we came up with just one name for central defence and Karius as GK.

Having said that, I am not quite so pessimistic about life after PC. Hopefully the players having been getting used to it for a while, so that shock should be out the window and they can knuckle down and show that this was always about much more than just Couthino.

Forget about a like for like replacement as one probably is not out there. Just make the squad better overall and you’ll win more games overall.

Honestly i don't think we have a plan...I think we thought we could hang to Couts for the rest of the year and continue from their..
And that's what's driving me mad with this club ,we are supposed to be one of the top team there are yet we handle ourselves like a small coffee shop...
Every football transfer should have 2 simple conditions ,Meet your valuation for the player and have an sufficient replacement in place ,that's it...It's not rocket science..We should have had 2-3 names of potential replacements ready right now.
But it's the same Krap of not starting a season with a proper CB..Of a Proper holding MF..and then we need to panic buy and loss precious time and points..

Again i could be talking out of my a$$ and tomorrow we will wake up with a super signing or at least Mahrez but i have my doubts that something has changed in the way we conduct ourselves.

What's done is done guys, it's not like we can do anything about it. Let's talk replacements now. I agree, we can't replace him like for like, but we do need to sign a player in his position. As happy I would be with Mahrez and/or Lemar, neither is exactly a playmaker, they're both wingers. Someone mentioned we already have Keita but he's more of a box to box midfielder, a number 8. We need someone like Silva or Mata, we need someone in the classic number 10 role, and so far we haven't been linked with anyone like that.
