Lamela is the sort of player we need to take us to the next level... Whether we'd be willing to fork out the money for him and pay him more wages than the other interested parties or not is the question though. I think it comes down to wages if we can somehow agree terms with Roma.

Him and Di Maria joining our two rivals for the CL spots will be a big blow; both game changers as far as I'm concerned.

It shouldn't do - long way to go yet and it's been two good results so far but even in those games you can see where improvements need to be made and players need to arrive.

Is it just two good results or 10 wins out of 15 and only losing once. Form like that is surely going to impress any potential incoming players. Even more so if they feel they help add some finishing touches to ensure the 4 draws could be turned into wins. We still need to be doing more but this latest run of results suggests that we are going in the right direction. Next weekend will be an interesting test.

What happened last season has no bearing. It's the games this season that count now. We need to get more quality into the squad. At the moment 5 teams are ahead of us in terms of quality - buy a top CB plus a left sided player and we will be challenging for the Europa spot.

thought you said earlier we'd challenge top four with the addition of a CB and a winger? make your mind up.

Well it's football and with transfers happening regulary then the goal posts will change and the standard will improve. If Arsenal do get Benzema and Di Maria etc then they will move further away from us , same if Spurs get Lamela , Contrao and any others. Teams in front aren't standing still.

we're not standing still either though, 5 signings so far, star striker to return (possibly) and additions to the first eleven to be added.

Played 2
won 2
scored 2
conceded 0

2nd in the league

hardly hanging around are we?

Additions to the first 11 were mentioned over 7 weeks ago - still not arrived.

The two results don't suddenly mean our squad is good enough for top 4 - it isn't and clearly IMO.

We have bought a couple squad fillers - the others are buying the quality required to get CL football.

What facts ?

The table is meaningless until at least ten games have been played.

Do you really think because we are currently 2nd after 2 games that means our squad is good enough for 4th ?

What happens if Utd , City and Spurs all win and we drop to 5th ?
