You've forgotten about Steve Clark, had he been appointed, I'm sure we would have garnered more points now. BR is a young manager and he indeed made transfer blunders in the summer and is now paying for it. He let go of these 4 men Kuyt, Bellamy, Maxi and Carroll (on loan) who can score goals and in return replaced them with one striker in Borini and tried to sign Dempsey but refused by owners. Those 4 guys were let go for the reason of reducing the payroll but he could have kept at least 2 of them until January or next summer. Because we need them to grab the goals. Next game against W.Ham we won't have the 2 first choice strikers in Borini and Suarez that BR wants to play. Look how is he paying for his blunder.  We have to depend on either Pacheco or the teenage striker kids again, playing an important away PL game like an unimportant Carling Cup game fielding youngsters in the Rafa era. This club is becoming a laughing stock due to BR mistakes and the unwillingness of moronic FSG owners to invest. Those morons have probably forgotten that to succeed in premier league, you need CL football and mega rich owners. If they can't afford to invest, please FSG, leave our club before we lag further and further behind the big guns.

I hope BR had learned from his mistakes and move forward. I am not criticising him but I have to say it is a big risk for a big club like Liverpool  in appointing an unknown young manager fresh from the championship who has no track record of winning any trophies. When Rafa was appointed, at least he had won the La Liga a few times and the UEFA cup. Nevertheless, I wish him all the best and hope he will succeed and be the next Bill Shankly.

I'm not sure that Kuyt or Maxi wanted to remain at the club, Bellamy defo wanted to move back to Cardiff. As for Carroll well he was loaned to West Ham under the pretense that we were getting another striker to fill the gap, Dempsey was that man but as we know it fell through. Was that Brendans blunder?

not really, they were let go due to a number of reasons one of which I pointed out earlier.

nowt to do with Hicks Gillette era? nowt to do with Rafa's rant? nowt to do with Kenny's failings? or the appointment of Hodgson? You need to think a bit further back. Blaming BR for anything as big as 'we are a laughing stock' is not fair.

they can afford it. they're stinking fuking rich mate. They however right from the start have maintained the stance that this club should be self funding. It will generate it's own revenue to be re-invested back into the team. They've never really said any different mate. but to say they cant afford it is wrong, just so wrong.

remember we'd be in the championship or worse still out of business if they hadn't stepped in. Asking them to leave now is just wrong.

They want us to be a self sustaining club, fine but if we fail to qualify for CL for 2 more seasons all in the name of being financially self sustaining, then be prepared for mid table mediocrity and the sale of our star players to bigger clubs including rising stars like Sterling and Suso. I cannot wait to see what they will do in the next 2 windows.

thats the key to it mate, these next 2 transfer windows are vital to the clubs future. Buy good quality here and we'll be set for the future. buy sh!te or don't buy at all and we really are going to struggle. We create chances, we play some nice football, we have a couple of world class players on the books and we have a great young manager who with the right backing could be here for a long time. Now all we need is a goals scorer or 2.

I think the next 2 windows will tell us a lot about FSG's ambitions alright.  I'm prepared to be patient and wait + see what they will do.
If it turns out that they don't have the funds to take us forward, then perhaps they should consider selling to someone who can.  I mean, they'll make a profit since they bought the club for cheap.

If they can invest a decent bit of money and there is progress well then the fans will be happy.

That's a great idea and all but they could do with investing a bit to try and get us back in the CL.  Then we'll probably be more capable of being self sufficient.

I think that was there original plan but it failed miserably because of the players we signed.

Brendan has made mistakes, but it's the players who have made the biggest mistakes, some of them at times cannot even do the basics properly on the pitch. Downing unable to do something as simple as track the run of the player he was man-marking! Jordan Henderson crumbling under pressure and missing an open goal. Suarez shooting straight at the keeper.

Time and time again this season our players have made mistakes which have proven costly, now add the fact that we have had rotten luck with refereeing decisions and you can see where the real problem lies, it lies with the players and the need for an introduction of video technology in football! It's easy to blame Rodgers, he picks the team etc, etc, but it's not his fault that someone like Downing cannot follow his man properly or Jordan Henderson cannot put the ball into an empty net.

and players miss chances, that happens, the problem is because our laborious style of play allows defences to get back and set in position we create very few clear cut chances so when we miss one it`s seen as a disaster.
look at united, look how many sitters they miss in a game, they miss loads but they just keep on attacking and create more opportunities, they do what it takes to win the game.
we miss a good opportunity and cry about how we should have won the game for about a week afterwards.

Do you actually ever go to any of our matches, I was up there on Saturaday and saw us completely dominate Southampton, we should have won that game 5 or 6 nil, but in any case it was a fantastic game with some sublime passages of play, yet you call this style of play laborious???
We are playing much much better than last season, our only real problem at the moment is that we only have one player capable of scoring on a regular basis, Suarez. In past season Stevie would chip in with the odd goal as would others in midfield but this season its just not happening. This is not directly Rodgers fault, he has not had time to sign the players he needs for his system yet. You have to give him some time let him mould the team to his vision, I guarantee you'll like the result.

I think its a case of speculate to accumulate, it's all very well being self sustaining if you are Manure but we have to get into the top 4 on a regular basis first and to do that we are going to have spend some fairly big money. If some of our players are incapable of tracking back, man-marking an opposition player and they cannot score a simple goal, then they should not be playing semi-professional football, nevermind professional football.

Downing is not a left back, but he has played in that position before and he should have seen enough of Lennon over the years to know what to expect. Not marking your man like he did has nothing to do with position, it has everything to do with bone-idleness and stupidity.

Our players miss chances because they lack composure in front of goal, they feel pressure when they play! I agree with your stance on United, but United do one thing we do not and that's get men into the opposition box time and time again. We do not and this needs to change. It's been a problem for us, for as long as I remember, I seem to remember it was a problem under Houllier and has just carried on from there.

The fact remains that Downing should have tracked back and marked Lennon and Henderson should have scored from a Hugo Lloris error. However one thing I will say is that Rodgers should abandon man-marking for zonal-marking. Rafa Benitez has shown time and time again that zonal-marking is more effective than man-to-man marking.

They had best be, because it's all talk and very little action from them. They're promising progression and at the moment they seem to be the ones causing us to stagnate and stagnation often leads to regression and that can happen rapidly in football.

Nobody knows. All I know is their plan of the club generating its own funds is not working because Rodgers only had £30m to spend in the summer (or close to that figure) and yet our rivals can afford to spend that on just one player and have money left over to bring in more players. We cannot hope to progress with a wafer thin squad and a very limited transfer budget.
