I do love those Liverpool supporters who were 100% behind Kenny and who were behaving as though they are the model supporter and everyone should take a leaf out of their book and who are now turning on our owners and are scoring the names of possible replacements? Yes they really are the model supporters? The same set of supporters who endlessly criticised Benitez, who slated Roy even before his press conference, who initially saw Broughton as a fraud only to have egg on their face after he screwed Hicks and Gillett over. These supporters are just as bad as the ones who constantly criticise and are never happy, the difference is these supporters don't have a holier-than-thou, pompous, cretinous attitude problem.

Put your feelings back in your purse princess. Whether you agree or disagree with other posters opinions at least they try to give reasons as to why they believe what they do. What you typed up there is a whinge.

Is it really that damning an indictment of Martinez' talent-spotting ability? Any more damning than, say, the signing of Robbie Keane for £20m, of Dossena for £7m, or Aquilani for £18m? I'm not sure myself, particularly given that i) he's just one signing and ii) clubs like Wigan don't have as much pulling power to bid for proven strikers, thus forcing them to take greater risks on players like Boselli who they can afford and are prepared to join them.

If we're going to judge the guy's transfer record then let's at least be fair and look at the whole of it.

Wigan have some extremely adept ball players that always find the space for a pass ,but why are they consistently fighting off
relegation mate ,surely a wise manager would realise that a more defensive approach whilst compromising his attacking style
would also make considerably  more sense when it comes to moving up the table rather than being every teams whipping boy
in the early throes of the season .

Vickery knew he'd be a failure, and stated repeatedly on World Football Phone-in that he was perplexed by the move, yet Martinez was convinced and sanctioned the signing who would later be voted by the Wigan fans as "the worst foreign signing in the clubs history." It doesnt exactly instill confidence in what he could do with a far bigger transfer budget when the first time he got the opportunity to flex a bit on financial muscle he failed so spectacularly.

Now that doesn't say a great deal for his perception of what a striker should be ....rather damning indictment that .

the only two clubs he`s managed in his whole career are f**king swansea and wigan, thats it.
he didnt even take swansea up, they scraped into the playoffs once but got battered by blackpool.
at wigan he`s just about stayed up by the skin of his teeth, even bruce and jewel had better average league finishes. this season from august to february he won 4 games.
on top of that he hasnt won anything, nada, f**k all, not even a johnson paint trophy or a leyland daf trophy. zilch
in my world that is not the CV  of a liverpool manager.

It's true though isn't it? I am not saying that Martinez would be my first choice, but whoever comes in will receive my support. I remember the absolute slating Hodgson's appointment received, even before we had played our first pre-season friendly a large section of supporters had made their minds up about him. He never received a fraction of the support that Kenny received or past managers and yet those supporters who were screaming their discontent with his appointment the loudest were the ones screaming the loudest in Kenny's defence. These supporters are naught but hypocrites in my book, absolute bare-faced hypocrites. This whole 'support the team, support the club' mantra only applies when these people see fit that it applies. It's a load of Tony Baloney, that's what it is.

Dalglish wouldn't compromise his beliefs  on playing passing football ,and Martinez will not either ..... wasn't that the problem regardless of the personnel ?

I don't know who Man Utd will appoint but as I said, big clubs sometimes do take on inexperienced managers who go on to be successful, so it's a possibility.

As others have pointed out, Steve Bruce had a lot more money to spend than Martinez. He had players like Valencia and Palacios playing for him, unlike Martinez who replaced them with the likes of Moses and McCarthy at a fraction of the cost. Wigan were widely predicted to get relegated prior to the start of each of the last three seasons for good reason and I am willing to bet that if you delved into the newkit archives looking for people's opinions of Martinez before he was being touted as our next manager, they would have said he looks a decent prospect, too.

Spot on, I wasn't born yet, unfortunately never seen him play, but younger fans just need to educate themselves to get why he deserved the loyalty in the first place and why he deserved to get things right

sorry mate but i dont give a f**king $*i*e who spent more than who as far as i`m concerned liverpool football club shouldnt even be interviewing him. i`m just upsetting myself thinking that kenny got f**ked off for a fella who hasnt even won a leyland daf trophy.
at least hodgson got fulham to the uefa cup final, the one time martinez got swansea into the playoffs they conceded 6 against blackpool.
i`m sorry i cant discuss this any more but it`s actually starting to wind me up.
