The little I've seen of him Butland looks pretty decent and he could be a decent long term replacement for Pepe if he moves on in the next few years.

Whether the lad would be willing to sign for us and then kick his heals waiting for a chance is another question, unless we loan him back to Birmingham or someone else to gain experience.

dont know why we want to offload jones tbh.
de vries and butland  .at least if we were talking about bringing vorn in then we'd be actually improving the squad.

Didn't really know where to put this, but it's starting to look like we really lost out on Siggurdsson.  I know it's only preseason, but he's been ripping it up with spurs.  He's got like 3 goals and 3 assists or something already, and his corners really are worth £10 million alone...

You mean like the supposed sale of Aquilani and Carroll according on Twitter?  :D

It's a shame though, especially when you see players like Narsingh moving for just 4.1m, makes you wonder why so much was spent on Downing, Henderson and Carroll. This club either seems to enjoy being mugged or have no sense of urgency regarding transfers. Matias Hernandez was outstanding against Man City last season.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers hopes to have completed 'a number of deals' before the transfer window closes at the end of August but has urged fans to not believe all the speculation.

The new Anfield boss has already signed Fabio Borini, who he worked with at former club Swansea City before moving to Merseyside earlier this summer.

Another of Rodgers' former Liberty Stadium players, Joe Allen, is another target while Fulham's Clint Dempsey is also wanted and has missed his club's Swiss training camp.

Liverpool, who could also be selling the likes of Andy Carroll and Alberto Aquilani to finance incomings, are talking about deals and Rodgers is optimistic about further additions while also stressing not all of the rumour mill is to be believed.

He told Liverpool's official website: "There's a lot of great work going on, obviously with the board and Ian Ayre in particular doing a lot of work behind the scenes.

"I've got regular contact going with our American owners and, in particular, Mike Gordon from Fenway Sports Group.

"Obviously when it's a club like Liverpool prices are always increased and so on, but I always felt it was important by the beginning of the season we could have the squad we want - and certainly by the end of the transfer window I would hope that will be the case.

"There is lots of speculation. I've seen hundreds of names linked with Liverpool and there's very few of them that were even close to coming here or even close that we have looked at.

"Unfortunately for the supporters they've got to read it and put up with it. But the message is there is a lot of work going on, on a number of deals and hopefully we can get those completed by the end of August."

I feel better already! Seriously though we may all be very surprised this time in a few weeks, what if it's a master plan to make all the clubs where we have a vested interest in players believe we have no money, hence we do not pay over the odds for players we want to buy! I for one do not believe this too be the case, however, we cannot simply pay a vast premium on the price that we did last year, by circulating that we can only buy when we have sold our most expensive player may work to our advantage (sorry if this has already been suggested).
Supporting LFC is not a hobby it's more important than work, the Wife and only slightly less important than the kids!

What's wrong with Butland?

Vorm is surely unrealistic, as he won't want to be Pepe's understudy.

Nothing is wrong with him. But spending 10 million for an understudy to Reina is pure madness when money seems tight.
Unless they are looking to sell Reina in the very near future.

butland has absolutely no experience at the top level and isnt even birminghams no 1.they loaned him to some lower league team.pearce picked him for team gb and the lad is doing real well and being hyped up.its too much money to spend on a inexperienced 2nd or 3rd choice keeper and id rather see it spent elsewhere.

vorm who has proven himself countless times in the prem last season would probably cost the same as butland.
pepe is 7 years here and if a decent club came in for him then imo he'd be off and vorm would be an excellent replacement.

Ave heard his wife wants him to move back to Cardiff mate.

Be gutted to let him go, he still has so much to offer.

Not too fussed if Bellamy goes tbh. He's decent enough and has the little bursts of form here and there but he's not consistently great. Plus he's knees are shot which doesn't help when he has to miss every second or third game.

If he moves, I wish him all the best.

Well, I hope he sees out his contract with us. He brings pace, passion, experience and goals to the team. He doesn't have to be available every game to be worth a place in the squad for me.
