Although, lets give Old Arry a wee bit of credit here ,Modric and co were there before Arry took charge and they done fuck all.
I mean love him or despise the bent bastard he transformed that team ,while Sigurdsson signed for a less than established
manager .....I mean lets face it AVB could die on his bony arse at Spurs ,so it wouldn't exactly be an exaggeration to suspect
Sigurdsson went just to keep her indoors in handbags .

Were we ever even interested in this Sigurdsson guy?

Can't understand why would would have lost out to the Spuds on this one.

They don't have more money then us and if it was paying the guy another 10k-20k a week I can't see us being that flint (based on our gloabl size).

Guess me thinks the club sussed him out and thought he wasn't worth chasing as he sounds more like a James Bond villan then football player.............

We offered him a contract and he picked Spurs over us.

It's pretty simple to see why he would pick Spurs over us - go and look at the last three seasons final table

I do agree about the last 3 seasons but look at it from another point of view, the last 3 seasons were under Harry, now they are under a manager who failed in the EPL last season so theres no guarantee there. he is always going to say it was for football or vision reasons but the money had a lot to do with it and also probably London, he also saw a better chance of 1st team football at Spurs as it looks like Modric will move.

I think he has made a mistake. I am quietly confident we will make a far better effort of a decent league finish this season. I can't see us finishing behind spurs.

theres another premier league club that have made contact with Adam Johnson, offered less money as a transfer fee and less wages than Liverpool would pay him. he's gonna have to take a pay cut regardless.  I think it's Villa but he wont really say.

Benny i think you need to read back some of your own posts because you've been banging on about money being the reason for these modern footballers well 99% of them in your own words.

However i do agree that the reality of it is that Spurs would have been playing CL football if Chelski hadn't pulled a rabbit and won it. They also have a strong squad and are likely to do well again next season with little or not change to the team. This has to be a more attractive offer than us who are just about to start on a long journey of recovery (2 season at the least).

It's all about the money and glory for players. If you pay them enough they can forget about the glory for a while.

Sigurdsson went to Spurs because of the whole package being more attractive than anything we offered him ( not just the money )

Spurs currently are a more attractive club to potential players. We currently are a just above average mid table team.

@DietmarHamann: LFC not in a position to compete financially with other clubs and also not in CL so the best players won't come

I'm just a bit worried about our new american owners and I hope my fears are misplaced.

But for me american owners always comes in with great fanfare, make a big splash the 1st year when they arrrive but then a few years down the road you realize
not much money has been spent since that 1st year.
I will be keeping a close eye on what they do in the next couple of years.

If they believe we can have a wage stucture of less than 50k on average we will turn into  a new Arsenal selling all players when they reach 25 and be happy just getting into the CL, nothing more.

I have not seen anything that says they are looking to impose an average wage cap? Link?

For me, FSG are being responsible. They are investing where appropriate but ensuring a long term plan is adhered to ensuring the financial security and survival.

You only have to look at what has happened to Rangers and the fact we ourselves were on the brink of administration under H&G. Stupid fans need to stop looking over at other clubs enviously because they spend stupid money on players and wages every season. We have more than enough revenue streams and support to build this club back to its former glory, the problem is people seem to assume you can do this in 2 years.

Well wake up and smell the coffee lads, this project is long term and the only thing that prevented us from achieving this years ago was selling to those cowboys H&G. The disruption it caused was still being felt last season. I am confident FSG are a different prospect that H&G, they seem to be making more sensible business decisions, I appreciate their stance of not committing the world to supporters (as did H&G). I too get impatient at the delay of a new stadium but I would rather make a good decision than a rash one that lumbers us with unmanageable debt.

We need to rediscover what LFC support is about. Brendan Rodgers looks like the man to bring the return of pure Liverpool FC football, both in terms of style and philosophy. We need to rediscover what a classy support base is, back to the days where winning trophies and enjoying being part of what the most special club in the world is.

I am on your page as it stands.

Just need to get rid of those overpaid players.
Why did we have to give Carra that contract...?
Highest paid defender on our team and he is 4th choice.

What you suggest ScS requires something our current base seem to lack - paitence, also unsure if the owners will have the paitence to keep waiting - the longer you are away from the CL the harder it gets.

We won't be able to break into that CL for a long time working within a income based budget - that isnt enough to compete against the others.
