Shearer takes over the barcodes

The Premiership - General Discussion

I see Mr Shearer has taken the managers job at Newcastle. Why has he done that when he is doomed to failure?

We read last week how professional Rafa is with his thousands of players on record, the video game collection from all over the world, the study into eating and fitness habits and a fanatical analysis of games, tactics, opposition etc.. of numerous scouts watching other teams and of a complete reorganisation of the youth set up and Melwood. Obviously Ure and other top clubs have a similar set up and even Moyes of the Blueshite has a coaching talent for buying shíte and getting them to score occasional goals when they´re not stacking the shelves.

Shearer has none of this set up behind him, talent to spot players with either short, medium or long term in view, nor the vision to create what Rafa has done at Liverpool. Most obvious of all, the lad doesnt have a single minute of football management experience on his CV.

This appointment is more indicative of how NUFC are lurching from one disaster to the next as, if they extend his job into next season but have to sack him, they will have pushed one of their greats out of the club from a job he took in a show of misguided loyalty.

They should have appointed Jewel, or Moyes and got a person in who knows about football management, as it is, poor old Shearer is only facing abject failure and he will be the biggest loser.

Shearer is a tw*t anyway, so watching him take the serial joke that is Newcastle United FC into the Championship will be pretty funny.

I've never liked the self-serving, cocky c*nt.

Being a Geordie I can tell you that the outlook of many of their fans is not great. They reckon Shearer never really wanted the job and he has taken this opportunity so he's only there 8 games tops.

Succeed or fail, he can say he's managed them and can walk away never to return. If they go down he can simply say he arrived too late and walk away, if he keeps them up he will just say his job is done and he'll be remembered as a legend

Personally I reckon it's friggin stupid to appoint him, he has no experience, doomed to failure IMO

Hope they stay up cos its usually an easy 6 points these days :D

really hope Boro go down, no more trips to the Riverside! :p

I think it is pretty clear that the club thinks it is going to get relegated and their hopes that Kinnear would make it back have been scuppered, so they've gone for the popular vote once more to cover that base.

Shearer on the other hand I think also thinks that they are going to go down and doesn't want to be sitting on the sidelines watching it happen. It would be more damaging for him to do that I think than chip in at this point.

He's got the look of a jammy basrad and I think he put himself into a win/win situation. Screw it all up, well you tried at the 11th hour and it was too late, turn it around and the felation of the shearer will be added to every marriage ritual till the day he dies.

I would like to ask your daughters hand in marriage
I will accept, so long as you go down on Sir Alan of Shearer.

Good luck to him, at least his poncy shirts will be of MOTD for the rest of the season.

and as for Alan Hansen saying that Shearer is the life and soul of the MOTD crew, I almost fell off my chair when I read that.

I've seen more comedy and spirit in a pre-watershed ITV comedy.

Blackburn have just beat Spurs which leaves Newcastle 3 points off safety going into today's matches. I had a look at their fixtures and they looked doomed

Never mind Shearer, Houdini couldn't get them out of this one now

West Brom, Boro and Newcastle are gone
