Prem's poor/overrated players - There's so many

The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby stmichael » Mon Apr 11, 2005 4:52 pm

Was watching Spurs v Newcastle followed by Real v Barca yesterday...huge gulf in class, but seeing how poor some of the players are in the prem is shocking!!

There's a few from Newcastle inparticular, I honestly dont know how they get away with it....and yet still find themselves in the team each week...I must be missing something?

Jenas.......is it me or is this lad just absolutely sh#t? EVERY time I've caught a toon game he has been apallingly bad!....I genuinely think I could probably do as good a job as him!!  :D

Darren Ambrose.........2 words for this lad, dog sh#t! :D

and then theres that James Millner who everyone was banging on about last year or year before??......I'm sorry, but again what I've seen of him he is extremely poor!

How the fook did they beat us!?!?

Who else would you say comes into the category of prems poor or overrated players? It'd just be funny to see some of the names people come up with.

I deifnately agree with you on Jenas, who just looks like such and average player, and Millner was so over hyped.

But I do think that Darren Ambrose is a half decent player who is easliy worth his price of £750,000. And no one has really been raving on about him.

disagree on Gudjohensen stmick, he is a class act and has done well to keep his place with the likes of Drogba, Mutu and Kezman coming in.

Harry Kewell is another.

Over rated players (in my book)

Steven Gerrard (mostly by himself.....although he still is very good)
Mark Viduka
Kolo Toure (he hasn't been too hot this season)
Frank Lampard (see Gerrard)
Wes Brown (I just don't see it)
Alan Smith (loads of blood and thunder, but he still has a 10 year old's haircut and no better than 10 goals a season)
Rio Ferdinand (see Gerrard and Lampard)
Dennis Bergkamp (used to be very good, is still reasonably handy but not as good as some make out)
Sean Wright Phillips (good little player but £24million?)
Andy Johnson (flash in the pan)
Half of Newcastle's 1st team squad.
Jolly Bob Grumbine.

Ferreira - 13Mil? best right back in country? I just dont see anything special in him.

Alan Smith - So happy we didnt get him, average.

Duff/Lampard - Good, but neither are world class as often described.

Glen Johnson - Mistake waiting to happen.

Reyes - Another one who is good, but people go over the top.

cant believe someone said gudjohnson is over rated! havent seen a cleverer player in a while.

i think duff is over rated, purely because he dives and cheats non stop.

my over rated players:

kezman (altho we all know how poor he is)
Alan Smith
James Beattie
Glen Johnson
Drogba
