Paul robinson - England goalkeeper my ar*e.

The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby AussieKopite » Tue Oct 09, 2007 11:31 am

I cannot work out why Scott Carson and Robert Green have not got a chance at being England's number 1.

Paul Robinson cannot stop crosses or long range shots. With the Spurs conceding so many goals from long range, is it becasue of Robinson's concentration? his positioning? or are the Spurs midfield not shutting down long range shooters?

i agree.
i think carson should be given a chance as he is still very young and is going to get even better from it.
this way it will be a better move for not only england but also for villa (this season), liverpool (when/if he returns) and tottenham because it is going to make robbinson think hold on a min, i need to step up my game

I agree with you that Paul Robinson is pretty s.hit to be England goalkeeper, he's a liability and wastes the ball constantly lumping long balls up the park all day long, instead of rolling it out to a defender.

I dont think Scott Carson is good enough either TBH and havent seen much of Green, but its my opinion that with Robinson in goal it just shows how desperate we are for keepers.

David James Maybe?

i think carson has potential to be england keeper. he is valued at 11m now and if he started playing a few matces (even if he played 2 or 3 friendlies) he will have a great chance to prove himself on if he is capable. he still has a good 10-15 years ahead of him

Spudz defence is worth £20m+, he is shockingly poor and yet either he or James start practically every England game between them.

Perhaps Green and Carson need to flap at a few, let in some soft ones and play like complete tw ats and then McClueless will give them a game. Someone wrote into teletext after the 7-4 and 4-4 spudz games commenting that the England keepers ALL conceded FOUR goals that weekend (Carson, Robinson and James)

And someone like Jol said it wasn't his confidence, I'd be worried if it wasn't as that suggests Robinson is :censored:!

Unless someone here thinks he's better than Reina I suggest we cash in ££££££. Can't imagine villa forking out that much, the mancs do need a long term keeper as VDS won't last forever and has looked frankly dodgy in recent seasons. Can't be fun keeping behind rio who sometimes looks like he's never played football before

10 million for any keeper is a good amount, especially when he is one who we have had for 3 years and had played no more then 10 games for us lol

If Scotty Carson has a good year and starts getting regular football (wherever that may be) I think he will be and should be the next NO.1.  Not sure who would pay 10mil for him tho

Robinson's been incredibly fortunate to hold on to the England jersey, although at the moment there's no one keeper that you'd say had the consistency in all situations to hold down the position unopposed. To be honest, I think all of Robinson, James, Carson, Green, Foster or Kirkland have as good a claim as one another, but no-one has really caught the eye while Robinson's form has been poor.

England have been spoiled for keepers for 40 years, Banks, Shilton, Clemence,Shilton again, Seamen, all abolutely top class who could claim to be best in world.

James would be a disaster, not sure if any really good English keepers at the moment.

hard to believe this is the same robinson these days...

he has completely fallen apart as a goalkeeper...

the buck stops with the coach, but ive got to say the players let him down...

rooney, what a stupid foul to make that led to the penalty...

gerrard, that was an amazing miss it cost england victory...

robinson how you are still playing for england is beyond me, you made a hash of there second goal...    :upside:     ???
