Paul Scholes

The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby UvS xR4GEx » Sun Jul 05, 2015 11:42 am

Every video I watch of Gerrard, or every time Gerrards name gets mentioned in social media I just see "Paul Scholes was better"

It's gonna become one of the greatest myths of our generation.

I honestly don't get it??
Maybe mancs are just the highest calibre of trolls?

Scholes to me is the most overrated footballer of all time. He was great at what he did (plodding around making accurate 5 yard passes) but he didn't have the drive and passion of Steven Gerrard.. He wasnt there in the last minutes making goal line clearenses, then powering the full length of the pitch to score the winner.

Scholes got all the rewards for being a plodder.

As soon as you're negative about Scholes you always get the Zidane quote thrown in your face.. worst thing Zidane every said.

If I was a Utd fan I'd say Scholes was a better player than Gerrard.

He bossed their midfeild and is probably the best playmaker to play in the premier league era. Gerrard for me is the better all the round player (I am biased) but there isnt much between them.
Scholes is far from overrated let alone your assertion of him being "the most overrated player of all time".

Scholes might be a very close second to the best player of his generation but Stevie is obviously the best. It's not being biased, it's being realistic. If Scholes played for us and Gerrard played for the mancs we wouldn't even be having this conversation, Stevie would have been dubbed the best of his generation and we would have all accepted it.

They're different players. Both are held in high regard. Gerrard himself claims Scholes is the best player he's played with. He's being modest though. Scholes was excellent but Gerrard was better. Had a lot more to his game.

No doubt Scholes was a top player but he never had to "carry" the team the way "Gerrard" often did.

Agreed. Stevie's goal in Istanbul turned the game and won us the european cup.
