The Premiership - General Discussion

Three Manchester United directors have lost their seats on the Old Trafford board in the latest twist in the Malcolm Glazer takover saga.
Legal adviser Maurice Watkins, new commercial director Andy Anson and non-executive director Philip Yea all had their appointments blocked.

A representative of US tycoon Glazer turned up at the club's AGM to cast his 28.11% stake against their re-election.

The club recently ended talks with Glazer over his bid to gain control.

Commentators say the latest developments could mean Glazer is preparing a hostile takeover bid and the club is now asking Mr Glazer to clarify his intentions as soon as possible.

not sure what this all means, but if man u hate glazer, tough, ehs there to completely muck up the whole thing  :p

Its not going to happen!

Talks have broken down before. But he always comes back. But then something else will happen...

Latest:
SETBACK FOR GLAZER'S UNITED HOPES

Malcolm Glazer's bid to buy Manchester United appears to be in tatters after the American's bankers JP Morgan dramatically resigned.
The decision was swiftly followed by a similar course of action from Brunswick PR, the company who have been looking after Glazer's media interests during his controversial attempt to takeover the Old Trafford outfit.

While there has been no formal statement from either organisation, the Press Association understands Glazer has been informed of the decisions, which came at the end of a dramatic day in which the American removed three members of United board.

He'll be back...but again, fail...

You know who I REALLY hate?

That f****** organisation Supporters United.

They think they're actually important?  The Man Utd board couldn't give a f*** about them.  The way they think they are so important that they can protest at the Cheltenham Racing festival and cause delays to race off times, the way they protested outside Old Trafford when we played them, causing a kick off delay.  As if anyone cares about their PLC.  They are a f****** sell out to the sacred word 'FOOTBALL'.

They're a f****** nuisance, and nobody listens to them.  Just give it up.  The reason Glazer wont get power has nothing to do with them.  Open their f****** eyes.

We all love our clubs, we couldn't call ourselves fans otherwise, but the way they are self-publicising, always having a spokesman on the news moaning about what's happening to their precious club, really pi$$es me off.

I love it when bad things happen to Manchester United.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.

Supporters United think they are for the good of the club, but the reality is, they are an itchy boil on the ar$e which won't go away.

They are welcome to each other.

Man Utd call for European revamp

United were dumped out of the competition by AC Milan
Manchester United want the format of the Champions League changed to help more big clubs reach the last eight.
United lost in the first knockout stage this season, as did Real Madrid, Barcelona and holders Porto.

United chief executive David Gill said: "At the moment we effectively have a random draw after the group stage.

"Maybe we should use a system where the holders are rated number one and they play the 16th ranked team, number two versus 15, and so on."

You can't afford to have Real Madrid and Manchester United going out in the last 16

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger

Gill is concerned that the competition will lose some of its pulling power if the 'glamour' clubs go out early.

He added: "It's not good for the big clubs, not good for TV and sponsors if there are no Spanish clubs in the quarter-finals.

"When the draw for the group stage is made, each club's co-efficient is used.

"Given it is unlikely we will ever go back to a situation of having two group stages, maybe we should use a system during the knock-out phase that also reflects the rankings.

"AC Milan were discussing this before we played them, so it is not a knee-jerk reaction."
