Manchester Etihad
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

No it doesnt... means Union Airways/Airlines...

United Airlines which coincidentally also exists means "Tayaran al Mutahida"...

We can argue this all day but if you check any dictionary or online translation website you'll get my point..

Had to do a whole bunch of language programs since the work I did involved a lot of translation

It always depends on how you write it in a sentence as well and in the context or meaning of the sentence, that's how the arabic fusha works. Even the F word has so many meanings in arabic.

They paid 400 million quid didnt they? The same value the experts are now saying the new Anfield will cost so in effect they bought the stadium for them. How much did they pay for the Commonwealth games stadium - reckon i9t was far less than 400......

interesting thought Reg, if we can find a sponsor big enough we may be able to get the stadium on the cheap

One question about long term sponsorship deals tho:

City's sponsor is over 10 years. Does the monetary figure include inflation and things like that? Just if everyone else manages to get massive sponsorship deals in 5 years won't this effectively make theirs a bit sh!t :D  is that just part of the risk you take?

Did they really pay £400 million? I thought the deal was £10 million a year for 10 years.  But I could be wrong.

And you have a good point greave.  It's just a risk they are willing to take.  Starting the market yourself like that could make you sell for really low, or maybe they bit of the hand of etihad.  It seems when stadiums have naming rights, they are often by the shirt sponsors.  So if your shirt sponsor is wiling to pay up then you are in good hands.  I'm pretty sure our shirt sponsor is willing to pay up.

Someone wrote to the 7 Days newspaper over here today and pointed out the same thing, saying City will be playing in 'Manchester's United Stadium'.  :D
