No problem Destro. 2 people won't fight if one of them don't want to. And I don't want fights.

I rate Mcmanaman a lot. The press here said he was a log, a bad player. Not good enough for Real Madrid. Far less skillful than Savio, or Robinho. Less skillful than Solari.

I defended him big time against many friends that bought that shíte. After all he came from Liverpool. Steve McManaman was a great player, but what I call skill, wasn't one of his best virtues. He had a LOT of good things though, and is an excellent professional.

If I have to say that McManaman has more skill than Savio or other players of Real Madrid, then so be it. No problem. :)

at least this time you cant lock the thread like you used to when you made a stupid comment, this is quality, you tell me i know nothing about football then you come out with a comment like that, then in pure comedy styly.

you do know which one macmanaman is? i can post his picture to refresh your memory if you like.

macmanaman, the only english man to have won the champions league twice (in its current format). opefully to be joined tonight by carra and gerrard, 3 scousers to have achieved the feat while the rest of the english players have to bow down

Steve McManaman became the first high profile Liverpool player to leave the club on a Bosman-style free transfer when he joined Spanish giants Real Madrid during the summer of 1999.
A winger, blessed with exceptional dribbling skills , McManaman was raised just a stones throw away from Anfield, in nearby Kirkdale. A boyhood Evertonian he joined the Reds straight from school and as an apprentice cleaned John Barnes' boots.

He rose through the Anfield ranks and in December 1990 his progress was rewarded when he made his senior bow, appearing as a second half substitute for Peter Beardsley in a 2-0 home win against Sheffield United. The opening game of the following season saw him make his full debut against Oldham Athletic and four days later he scored the first of his - goals for the Reds in a 2-1 defeat at Maine Road.

He celebrated the end of his first full season in the first team by starring in the FA Cup final triumph over Sunderland and three years later he shone at Wembley again, scoring two goals and picking up the man-of-the-match award in the Coca Cola Cup Final success against Bolton Wanderers.

On the international front, McManaman won his first England cap against Nigeria in November 1994, coming on as a 25th minute substitute for the injured Robert Lee. His full debut came against Colombia in September 1995.

A scorer of spectacular goals, as fans of Celtic and Arsenal will testify, his emergence as one of the games most exciting talents brought him to the attention of Europe's leading clubs and he almost signed for Barcelona in September 1997.

At the start of the following season he was named club captain but it was to be his last at Anfield. In July 1999 he opted to sign for Real Madrid and he capped his first season at the Bernabeu with a stunning strike in the European Cup Final against Valencia.

In Madrid he was a squad player, we like it or not. :) And in every summer he was in the transfer list rumours.

Tells a bit the story of how much has grown LFC under Benitez. One of LFC's best player of some years ago had to struggle to have minutes in Spain, except in his first season, in which he came with a lot of hype from Liverpool. Fortunately enough, now that doesn't happen, LFC is in the final of the CL, not Real Madrid, and players like Gerrard aren't tempted any more to leave the club.

You like it or not, in that times Mcmanaman and people like Owen wanted to leave. Now the players don't want to leave, because they think they can win titles here.

If Steve Mcmanaman has exceptional dribbling skills, I wouldn't know rating the dribblins skills of Figo, Laudrup, Savio, or Robinho. So, let's leave it at this:

Steve Mcmanaman has been the best player ever I have seen in Spain. Absolutelly brilliant. Discussion over.

:)

Just because McManaman didnt make it at Real it does not mean he isnt skillfull.

Just like Morientes  he didnt make it over here, but still a good striker.

Michael Owen was more or less a bench warmer at Real, but he's still a quality striker.

Oh how we could do with a McManaman now, or even better John Barnes. hmmmmmmmm

Mcmanaman, a not skilled player, was succesful at some extent due to hard work.

You obviously never saw him before his bad injury. He was one of the best carriers of the ball in England, tore Sunderland apart in the first half of "Souness's" FA cup final, then did the same again to Bolton in the League cup final. At his peak he was as good as Giggs, a great passer who hardly ever lost the ball. Fowler acknowledges that a huge proportion of his goals were directly attributed to McManaman. Lacking only a decent shot or cross he could cut inside and create goals for others with his great vision and skill. In the FA cup final against the Mancs Ferguson paid him the compliment of assigning Roy Keane to man mark him.

He also scored this goal away to Celtic goal v celtic

more McManaman

A truly great player who tarnished his rep by leaving on a bosman.

Cheers for posting that up mate. Agree that Mcmanaman is not remembered as fondly as should be due to the way he left the club. Absolutely fantastic player for me and we could seriously do with a young Stevie Mac in this team right now. At his best he had everything you could want from a winger. An excellent dribbler, he was quick, he coud pass, intelligent, had great vision and scored some absolutely spectactualar goals in some BIG games. He couldn't tackle for sh.i.t but he worked to help out in a Luis Garcia kinda way whenever we lost the ball. You could say he wasn't the best crosser of a ball but our stlye of play under evans was more akin to Wenger's Arsenal so we often saw Stevie.Mac get in of the wing, beat a man before squaring across the box for the likes of Robbie/Rushie to tap it in.

As for being a skillful player? without a doubt. Not a player who bamboozled with a million step-overs but he had very quick feet, could dribble/change direction at full pace with the ball stuck to his feet and he scored some spectactular goals (particularly that scissor kick in the Champions League final) that only very skillful players can score. Althoug there is no doubting that the Mcmanaman who played in Spain was a more refined (and certainly slower player) version and there is no doubt that LFC got his best playing years.
