It's an interesting idea though is a team from the non "top four" teams. I'll have a go although it has to be said I've seen about a tenth as much football as i would normally have watched in years gone by. These are not blokes I'm saying we should sign, merely my "outside the top four' best team.
GK-David James. He's not far off being the best in the league, and probably is the best in the league if you can forgive and forget the gaffes, which as he's got older come along about once every three games. It's a bit like playing Russian roulette, you just hope that when the bullet is actually lined up, the gun ain't pointing at your head. Gaffes when 3-0 up are just fine, but as Dudek and Reina have discovered, gaffes at Old Trafford can erase the memory of many good performances.
Right back-Alan Hutton. I haven't seen a lot of him but like what I have. Looks very solid to me and can play a bit too. A good buy for the money IMHO.
Left back-Nicky Shorey. No fuss and almost Finnan like in his efficiency, I fancy this fella will move onto bigger and better things before too long. Good solid player.
Centre half-Joseph Yobo. Good solid defender who doesn't get embarrassed often. Not really a footballing centre half but a good player nontheless.
Centre Half-Ryan Nelson. Another good defender who ain't afraid of "zedding it" if under pressure.
Left mid-Ashley Young. Better than Bentley IMHo and a smashing footballer alround with a bit of devil in him. A good buy at the 9 million quid O'Neil shelled out on him.
Central mid- Tom Huddlestone. I like this lad, he can pass it, has a shot and can put his foot in. Sometimes needs a rocket up his erse and is fgetting it now, but will make a really good player IMHO.
Central mid-Gareth Barry. Good player, debateable as to whether he would improve us a central midfielder, but would massively improve us if he played left side, either as full back or midfielder.
Right mid-Arteta. Another excellent player, and one who would instantly improve our team were we to have him.
Up top-Keane and Berbatov. Good players, good pairing. If Berbatov broke a fingernail or messed up his hair and lost interest, I'd get him off and get my sub on, Tim Cahill.
Anyhow, that's my "outside the top four" team. No doubt I've forgotten someone really obvious, but there it is anyway.
