Avram grant - Sacked

The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby JC_81 » Sat May 24, 2008 7:01 pm

Grant did ok, but let's not get carried away.

He inherited an excellent team who had won 2 league titles and was not able to win a trophy for them.  Beaten by Barnsley and Spurs in the cups, efficient but unspectacular in the league, and his biggest achievement was getting to the CL final.  They only took the league to the last day because of Arsenal and United's poor run-ins, it's not as if they were pushing United all season.  They had the easiest run any team will ever have to a CL semi final.

He was up against it from the start, their players didn't want him, their fans didn't want him and most of the football world was surprised at his appointment.  Let's be honest, he HAD to win a major trophy to have any chance of staying on beyond the end of the season as manager.

He well exceed my expectations.

The Chelsea chairman implied Grant should've done significantly better when he said 'it's just not good enough for us'.

Give the guy credit, he came from absolutely f*cking nowhere and did a pretty good job.

Manhattan would be willing to discuss terms with Chelsea.

IMO, I think Avram Grant did a very good job for Cheaski. Considering how close he came to winning the EPL and CL with only being in the job 8 months, I think Cheaski will roo the decision to release him.  I agree with those that have said that this is a crazy time in football.

Chelsea seem to have adopted a type of Romanov-strategy, that is, directly f*cking about with the team and in doing so removing a portion of sovereignty from the manager.

Bruce Buck:
"We decided several months ago that our squad size is a few players too many. It is about 28 now and it should really be 22 plus three goalkeepers.

"So there is going to be some movement just to get the squad down to the size we think is optimum. In terms of other transfers generally, every year we want to tweak the squad a bit, so there will be some changes, but I don't expect there to be massive, wholesale changes."

"We", presumably means the Chelsea hierarchy i.e. Abramovich and his mates.

I think Abramovich should be the manager.

How hard can it be?

Not surprised in the least by this announcement but it just shows what a joke of a club Chelsea are.  Any bets on Abramovich tapping up Benitez in order to get that Champions League trophy he craves? ???

If I was as rich as Abramovich, I'd just buy a European Cup replica, and pretend it's real.

It's much cheaper than buying a club, funding the team, and putting yourself through the stress of the Champions League.

Not that I liked Grant nor Mourhino, its just these tw@tting millionairs feckin up the game and ecspecially them pair of tw@ts that own us.

It could be worse we could have been bought by the vilest most sinister, smiling assassin on the face of the football planet Mr Shinawatra take a bow .
The twisted tyrant actually forced his players to play 3 extra games in Thailand with the majority of the team almost certain to move on  this summer .
I hasten to add as a Scouser I truly loathe Hicks n George im the cowardly one ,but for sheer arrogance Shinawatra ,this man if the media are to be believed expected his players to bow when he entered  the stadium, this personifies the term scary' and how money is indeed destroying football.

I say only that, quest man, the star anti, the normal one, the employee, has brought there the chelsea where he had never been and if God had not let Terry slipped we would now be speaking of a real miracle but the miracles one he also has to know them to him to earn and the Chelsea was to beat that rigor there, it was to gamble away the alone premier there and exclusively because Grant has gone him, he has arrived on the rubbles of Maurinho and he has built a team winning for indeed and not on the paper.
