I wish I could remember where I heard it but I was listening to the radio in the last few days and a pundit (damnit, what was his name??) who knows Steve Clarke more than a little bit was talking about Kenny and Steve's approach to Andy Carroll.  He reckons that they are most definitely in it for the long haul with AC, that they are convinced of his potential to be a regular striker (and scorer) for LFC for many years and are deliberatley and carefully taking things slower than many would expect or demand in the present age to develop his game.  That means strict diet, very tailored training and careful use of him in games until he builds up his fitness, strength and all-round playing level.  They are NOT going to sell this boy in January or next summer.  They are going to bring him on bit by bit.  I know everyone will be shouting that you can't do that in the modern Premier League, that results have to come faster but it seems the boss couldn't give a fiddler's for all that :censored:.  It makes sense really.  He's a massive investment of club funds - why shill him off to a Villa or back to Newcastle for a 20m loss and then watch him get his confidence back and become another Alan Shearer?  This debate will rage until he starts scoring 3 goals per game, every game but I'm just saying, I can be patient for now and trust the manager and coaching staff.

rather that than playing ten times worse like chelsea did with over a hundred million on the bench.

united have a £30m player who can't even get on the bench this season.

i'm generally quite patient with younger players in their first season or so. however yesterday andy carroll was an embarrassment, i think he touched the ball maybe 5 or 6 times and just about every time ended up spinning around on his ar'se or his nipples. even if he can't pick a pass or take a shot he should at least, with the friggin size of him, be able to hold it up for a few seconds.

we've seen there's a player in there somewhere but FFS it needs to come out fast or we've really wasted our time and our money.

the lad was on for less than 5 mins. ???

If what Haps has said is true, it sounds like a sensible approach to a player who has enormous potential
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Give him until Christmas, and if he still doesn't show signs of being a prolific scorer and complimenting well with Suarez, then get someone else in who can do so in the Jan. window. Liverpool can then loan the lad out, bench him or sell him. No PL club like Liverpool chasing for a CL spot can afford to be too overly patient with any player esp. when he cost that much.

A prolific scorer? :D ... I don't know what you're expecting but he's NEVER a prolific striker... He's a heskey type of target man and if he scores 15 goals a season and contributes to the team game I would say he's a success... Right now he's far from being a success...

Problem with Andy is that he doesn't seem to have a football brain...

He was pretty prolific last season before he got injured and eventually moved to us.

I'm not particularly worried about Andy, I'm sure Kenny knows what he's doing. At the moment we look better without him in the side but that doesn't make him useless by any means. He can be a good impact player and very useful when playing against rough and tumble sides who pack the defence. He's only a young lad and players of his type usually thrive as they get older, I expect things with Andy to be no different. He seriously needs to get rid of that pony tail tho  :D

In a way im glad. But until we see the wingers producing then it will be difficult to see us getting the best out of Carroll. Henderson seems to be improving though so that's one positive that will hopefully have a knock on effect.

If Carroll is long term, we should buy someone short term or play Bellamy alongside Suarez more often. We need working partnerships in the team like gerrard and Torres last time... Right now whenever Carroll plays, we play ridiculous long balls and crosses to Carroll. Carroll right now is not good enough to build our tactics around him.
