It doesn't matter who's given the run up front. What matter's is that it's multiple, rather than singular. But, knowing Benitez's panchant for 1 stiker, I just cannot see this happening.

I have to say I fear the worst. It could see us slipping even further down. 8th or 9th anyone?  :(

never mind saving aquilani for next season. Heel be off and who could blame him. Poor lad been treated like a leper. Then we wonder why were in this position. How the hell can u manage players like this. The only players that look happy are lucas and kuyt.

Just read this in Daily Star@

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/footbal....-Torres

"MANCHESTER CITY’S hopes of landing Fernando Torres in a stunning £60m deal have been boosted after being told the striker is now open to a Liverpool exit.

The Eastlands club have drawn up a sensational £150m shopping list, which is headed by the Spain striker (above).

Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas, Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Hamburg defender Jerome Boateng have also been earmarked as summer signings, with the mega-rich club looking to cement their status as a big player in Europe.

However, it is the capture of Torres that has been made the club's No.1 priority by Arab owner Sheikh Mansour.

And Starsport understands that City's quest to lure the prolific marksman from Anfield will gather pace after intermediaries informed Eastlands officials that the striker would now be open to a move.

Torres had previously been unshakable in his commitment to the Merseysiders, but the superstar has now grown tired of the club's struggles on and off the pitch.

With Liverpool set to miss out on the Champions League next season and the future of boss Rafa Benitez unclear, Torres is now questioning his long-term future at Anfield, while the club's own transfer plans were thrown into doubt last week after owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett put the club up for sale.

City want to pounce on that uncertainty by launching a money-spinning £60m move for their long-term target, though any move to Eastlands is likely to rest on whether Roberto Mancini's side can secure a top-four spot this season.

But the club are intent on backing the Italian and have already put aside a whopping £50m to lure Fabregas from the Emirates, although, if the Spaniard was to leave north London, a move to Barcelona seems more likely.

Nou Camp striker Ibrahimovic, who worked with Mancini at Inter Milan, also features on City's star-studded summer shopping list, while Hamburg defender Boateng is set to arrive in the summer."

Hope this is just more b******s paper talk, selling our best player to our direct rivals would be madness.

I know some people argue about the money coming in handy but if he was to leave it would have to be abroad surely.

Since fourth looks unlikely I hope Spurs do over Citeh and they end up below Villa too. Cant see many players going there if they finish 7th (hopefully behind us).

I enjoyed that  :D

I get the feeling we're in for a loooooooooong summer  :(
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I agree, this article is probably just riff raff, but wouldn't this be an ideal time for Torres to publicly show his commitment to Liverpool?

If anyone wants him then they better be prepared to pay what he is worth. Rafa said earlier in the season he would even laugh off a 60Mil bid... well if he is indeed off to Juventus and want's Torres then he better be prepared to part with half of that reported 175Mil.

It all depends on whever or not City can get CL football for next season. If we do and we put in a bid of £60M or so for Torres. Then you can kiss him goodbye. he would jump at the chance to be a part of what we are doing IMO. Imagine a torres - Tevez strike partnership with Johnson and Bellamy on the flanks :D

City and Liverpool apear to be going in different directions..... Ahhh Well :p
