Taxi for Torres - judas fecks off to chelsea

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Sorry, but I think it's EXTREMELY important that the manager scuppered LFC's hopes of securing CL football next season, in favor of bolstering his own European credentials with a challenge for a Euro cup.

If Torres is genuinely not fit to play, then he shouldn't be playing in any tournament.

FFS why the feck would he go to a knee specialist if there was no problem.

If Rafa did play him and his knee buckled altogether the blame Rafa fest would be in full flow

Christ the comments to bash rafa are gettin feckin old regarding Torres. GIVE IT A REST

Why would he play against Benfica for nearly 90 mins if he had a knee injury?

Why would Benitez wait til Saturday to send him to a "specialist"?

Why would he be playing again next week if he had a knee injury?

Why would Torres say "The manager saw something I couldn't feel"?

Why woud the specialist say there's fuck all wrong with Torres, if Torres had a knee injury?

Benitez wants/wanted Torres fresh for his Euro cup bash, because he has abandoned 4th Spot. He had no interest in risking Torres in a 4th spot race, becuause he is personally more interested in the European cup.

1. He was taken off against Brum and may have had a minor injury that got worse after Benfica

2. The match finished Thursday night - the club would want to make thier own assessment before takng further action

3. are you referring to our next game on Monday?

4. That was after Brum

5. the specialist hasn't said there's 'nothing' wrong. He said 'he could return as early as Monday

6. is your opinion

Yeah what a selfish git. He's clearly only interested in his own CV and doesn't give a monkey's about Liverpool Football Club???

The manager is a proud, proud man. A principled man who, dare I say, will know before anyone when its time to go.

Incidentally, if we missed out on CL football for one season but got rid of the Yanks, would you be happy or not?

Lets see if the miraculous recovery happens next thursday then.
Like Tony said he played virtually the whole game against benfica and only came off once it was won.

Greavsie - why is it ok to risk him in that game ?

If he is carrying an injury then surely you wouldnt risk him at all.

6. is your opinion

1. He played on Thursday night against Benfica for 85 minutes after the Birmingham match. If he injured, why?

2. But they wait til an important match (at least to me) on the weekend to send Torres out to see a "specialist"? Why wait? Obviously, the Fulham game was of no real importance to Benitez.

3. I'm refering to the comment that Torres can play "next week". If we see Torres for West Ham, I'll be VERY surprised. I'll also be very pissed off, as it means he could have played against Fulham.

4. Doesn't matter what it was after. It indicates that Torres doesn;t feel himself to be injured.

5. If he could play for nearly 90 minutes on Thursday, but HAD to go to a specialist and miss an important game on Sunday, only to be told he could play the week after, where's the injury? Truth is, he wasn't THAT injured, not enough to warrant missing the Fulham game. The exact quote from SSN was "He's wasn't THAT injured, he can play next week".

6. That's what it's all about.

I'm with Ben on this. I don't believe that he was injured, or at least THAT injured that he couldn't have played in the game against Fulham.

It's clear to me that Benitez had prioritised the European Cup over a 4th Spot effort and he wanted Torres fresh for that purpose. Which is a goal contrary to what most Liverpool fans want. However, Benitez knows that a Eurpean Cup win looks much better on HIS CV, than a scrape through to 4th spot yet again in the domestic league. He's aware of his current situation and knows that come the Summer teams will come looking to prise him away from Anfield.

Yes, I think Benitez is more interested in the immediate future of brand Rafa than Liverpool F.C. at this moment in time.

I'm not happy at abandoning  a 4th place position or a CL spot.

I'd be happy to see both the yanks and Benitez gone from the club.

Tony either way you're looking to have a pop at Rafa over it

Either he was injured before Benfica then Rafa's a tw@t for risking him

or he was never injured and has been rested - Rafa's a tw@t

You just dont want to accept the fact he may have been injured mate, thats a fact

I dont care either way mate, our team should be good enough to beat midtable Fulham at Anfield - with or without Torres so feck knows why you're harping on about it

It's not about "having a pop" at anyone.

I'm questioning the manager's motivation over what I feel to be a very serious issue.

I didn't buy the "injury" on Sunday and I sure as shit don't buy it now.

In addition, we KNOW that the team lacks a real killing edge without our star striker.
