Lions to entertain Scousers in the Carling Cup

Millwall will face Liverpool at home in the third round of the Carling Cup after the teams were paired together in this evening's draw.

This will be the first time the pair have met in the competition and will be the first competitive fixture between the two since they last met in the top flight in 1989/90.

Both sides received byes to this stage of the competition due to their European commitments.

Better get the treatment room ready , Dennis Wise will fire up millwall and what they lack in class they'll try and make up with aggression.

As I said wont be no walk over as they reached the F.A.cup final last season, and your right woof the tackles will be 2 footed being flung in from every angle, on the likes of garcia an alonso :glare:

Well as its the Carling cup im hoping Rafa  trys out for a few of youngs lads though keeps a couple of out of formers in the sides as well to see if they can regain some touch.
Garcia and Alonso especially since Gerrard injury have got enough games in League and CL to worry about playing in this comp

great chance to field some youngsters if you ask me. a team like this would be reasonable.

   otsemobor       carragher          henchoz          riise

   potter            welsh               hamann          warnock

                       baros               sinama-ponolle

i agree, give the 2nd's a chance....we're in the champions league and don't need this micky mouse cup to make life even more difficult that it already is!

I don't know if that side collectively would have the maturity to deal with the mind games that Millwall could play with the less seasoned players. I guess it' s down to how seriously we want to take the carling Cup.:)

i personally couldn't give a monkeys about the carling cup, even though i want us to win every game that we play. that competition should be used as a chance to play some of the younger players, especially against lower league opposition. it gives them confidence and lets them know that the manager has not forgotten about them. :)
