Amen.

Lets just say, the motivation behind me mentioning you sending a PM in the first place....was to counter the fact that you 'appeared' to be in the dark as to what had happened. Thats the only reason why...

Now, i also believe that sabre's sentiments are relevant and in light of that (and the PM's we both sent each other just now :D)  Before everyone dies of boredom....an end to it.

Sorry, cant resist.

He was allowed back after some debate, my 'good self' being asked if that would be possible....to which i agreed btw. Only for the fella to go and make another hash of it with some of the other mods.

Ok?

Now that IS the last word on it.

From what I understand Alonso is on 4 yellow cards, and if he gets another one before next week he is banned for life. If however he can manage to avoid another card until 1st of August all his cards will be cleared and he will start the season with a clean slate and can stay.

However if he makes too many complaints he will get banned whether or not he has any cards.

Please yes sack it off now... tedious is not the word!  I come on this 2-3 times aday... very rarely post because A not the time B ENJOY reading other views rather than writing mone (I know mine) I know there is little to discuss sometines but lets try and keep it vaguely related to the reds because its sends me under logging on only to find pointless bickering instead of sometimes pointless l'pool debate which get me through the day  :D

Liverpool deny striking a fee with Real for Alonso

Liverpool have denied reports they have agreed a fee with Real Madrid for Xabi Alonso.

Xabi Alonso: Real rumours persist.

Suggestions the Spanish international would not be travelling on to the second part of the club's Far East tour were also allayed by the 28-year-old's involvement in training at Singapore's national stadium on Thursday.

The club insisted Alonso did not figure in Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Thailand in Bangkok because of an ankle injury, although he travelled with the party to Singapore.

There have been claims in Spain that the reason for his absence from the team was down to a deal having been struck with Real and Liverpool's desire for the player not to pick up an injury.

But a Liverpool spokesman said: "Xabi is with us in Singapore, and will train with the rest of the squad. He was injured ahead of the Thailand game, people can say what they like about that.

"And there has been no deal agreed with anyone for his transfer to anyone.''

It has been claimed that Madrid have decided to end the summer-long saga in the face of defiance from Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez, who has intimated that he wants a fee of over £30m for the player.

It has been suggested the Spanish giants are now prepared to meet the asking price for their transfer target.

Alonso has made his desire to leave clear, and had hoped not to have to fly to Vienna on Sunday to meet up with the Liverpool squad ahead of the flight to the Far East.

But Alonso did make the trip, and sources at Liverpool expect him to face Singapore on Sunday before the squad fly back to the UK the following day.

Madrid sporting director Miguel Pardeza still holds out hope they can persuade Liverpool to part with Spain duo Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa.

With regards Alonso, Pardeza said: "It's at a standstill. From day one, Liverpool have asked for more than Madrid are ready to pay and it's very difficult to understand. But I've not lost hope that things can be resolved.''

Pardeza, who confirmed Madrid have been looking for an alternative to Alonso but with little success, also admitted a lack of progress in their chase of defender Arbeloa.

"With Arbeloa there was an option which, at the moment, has come to nothing. Liverpool haven't had much intention of letting him go, even though he has one year left on his contract, and we are still in this situation,'' Pardeza told Spanish newspaper Publico.

"There is more than a month of the transfer market left and this could change. I'm not going to deny that we'd like to have Arbeloa.''

There are also claims that the refinancing package being negotiated by owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett could be delayed.

The deadline for the pair's loans to be refinanced with the Royal Bank of Scotland and Wachovia is tomorrow.

The club's American owners have been confident that they will get the refinancing of their original £350million loans, but negotiations could well continue beyond this week.

RBS have made all the right noises about agreeing a new loan package, but there are rumours that Wachovia are not as keen.

I say he's going.

It was nice to hear him say that he would not force a move but I will still be disapointed if he does leave. Last year he was one of our best players and although he was up and down a couple of seasons, his class has always shone through. It was interesting to hear some Madrid negotiator talking about him saying how that type of player a "creative playmaker central midfielder" is very rare in football today, well what he said was true, but why would we want to let him go if there are only a handful like him in world football?

Personally I am a bit peeved off with both the CM's this summer. However Xabi has acted with a lot more class that Masch. Maschereno owes us, we took him from West Ham, gave him games and signed him for 20 odd millions pounds. We let him go to the Olypimics for personal gain in getting 2 golds, we obviously played a part in him becoming Argentina captain, (although Maradona has always rated him) and for him to let his agent come out with some of the shite thats been in the papers, its very very disapointing. Some have reported he is only on £30,000 a week and is doing it to get a better deal? Hardly likely, and if he is he is doing it the wrong way. He's making me think he is a bit of a gobshite.

If we had to lose only one for the money being talked about, I would rather we lost Maschereno for anything over £35m. I think Alonso is more important to our team and Masch can lose his head at times and leaves holes. Also Alonso is such a rare commodity in todays game and he had a top notch season last year. However from the way its looking we will probably sell him for £25m +a player and keep Masch.

Personally if it was me, I would be sorely tempted to kick them both into touch, and get £70m+, however that would lead to all sorts of problems about rebuilding a midfield and everyone knowing you had the cash to do so. And looking around how many midfielders could come in and keep us at our current level of title challengers?

bigmick wrote:Good thread. I enjoyed GYBS's post it made me laugh and was a good come back. Reds was interesting and I'm assuming "sardonic" means the same as "sarcastic", or pretty close. Would the "don't panic" line of last week, or the "show me where it is FFS" of the week before be "sardonic"?. I dunno, I took em as sarcastic but I stand corrected. As for referring to a PM which I sent on the open forum (and I do remember it although I don't save them as a rule), well I don't think that is on to be honest, I think it's poor form. This is particularly the case when the actual meaning of it, and the one you are giving the impression of, doesn't square up in my memory. I'm not going to go into what my memory tells me was in the PM, nor the spirit it was sent in, but suffice to say I'm very disappointed by your post here Red.

Leaving that aside anyway and moving onto the Alonso situation, I do think at some point we are going to have to let him go. As I've said many times I think anything over 25 mill is a good deal, but obviously I'm not doing the negotiating which is just as well.

Thank you for taking the post in the spirit it was meant Mick  , Hiemdall take note and learn a lesson .

:D
P.s. has he left yet

When is this saga going to end? Am I the only one who is getting really frustrated with all this. An Irish sports  show had it lastnight that originally  Liverpool quoted 30million euro for alonso, RM bid 27mill sterling and then Liverpool wanted 40million euro. This was supposedly from a "good source" an ex player with an inside track. Does anybody know anything???
