The cost and hassle in replacing him will for me outweigh the outlay perhaps needed to keep him happy.

If money is the issue then slap an improved contract in front of him.. at least then if he really wants to go Rafa will be able to claim that he did his best.

I think if money was the sole issue you would be right mate. I don't think its all just about money though. It may be worth a try though ..... you never know   :D

  Im sorry for nicking this but i was laughing my head of reading it , It was posted by A lad called  MACCA888 ON RAWK, ABSOLUTLY BRILLIANT

Benitez Contemptuously Upsets Ferguson And Allardyce By Ignoring Real Rules

Real Madrid’s Sporting Director Miguel Pardeza believes Liverpool’s attempts to extort close to £32 million for their midfielder Xabi Alonso is nothing short of contempt. He admitted that Benitez has been an awkward fuc.ker from day one.

Pardeza told Publico: “The problem with Alonso is he's the best creative central midfielder in the world so obviously we demand that he be sold to us. We're the King of Spain's favourite team for fu.cks sake.”

“Alonso is not a fad, there are just not may alternatives - not in the Americas or in Europe are their players who can perform his task. Fabregas is ok, but he's a beady eyed whinging bit.ch, so he can fu.ck off to Barca!”

He added: “They were :censored:.ehawks from day one - the demands of Liverpool were beyond what Madrid was willing to pay, so they should shut the fu.ck up and be happy with what we give them. Benitez just plucks figures out of the air. How the fu.ck can a player we value at £100 and a carton of Malboro lights be worth £35 million? Seriously, Alonso's no fu.cking Ryan Giggs like is he?”

“Telling us what you want us to pay for your player is not the way to get things done, but I have not given up hope we can solve this. We tell you what we're prepared to pay and you say "Thank you uncle Perez." Then you go and get Nicky Butt on loan. Job fuc.king done!"

“As I said, I do not believe Alonso will be an easy situation to solve until the King beheads a few of Benitez's family members until he agrees to sell. He's the King after all you know, and I don't mean Elvis fuc.king Presley. I mean a proper King with a crown an a big sword."

A Liverpool spokesman said: “Xabi is with us in Singapore because Rafa made us take him, and will train with the rest of the squad. We tried to smuggle him onto the easyjet to Torremolinos because it was about £50 cheaper than the Ryanair to Madrid, but Rafa spotted us and insisted that we all put a twenty each in to get his Singapore ticket instead. Real Madrid are gonna be fuc.king :censored: off, so if anyone is reading this, I'm sorry but it was all Rafa.”

“We didn't even pretend that he was injured ahead of the Thailand game. Rafa can say what he likes about that, but Xabi got a blister off his new Adidas Gazelles because he was breaking them in without socks on, swear to God.”

“And there has been no deal agreed with Real for his transfer because Rafa is an awkward c*nt.”

We asked Mr Ferguson for his view on the transfer saga of the summer and he said "Itsnay :censored:infairlad! We had to sell them our best player so that fat Spanish :censored: should have to do the same. When Alonso is gone they won't score against Blackburn, so Benitez won't be able to upset my old pal Sam any more with his :censored: hand nonsense. I'm phoning the FA when I've finished me bevvy." Mr Ferguson rang the FA three days later and informed them "Yerme :censored:inbezzie!"

Good thread. I enjoyed GYBS's post it made me laugh and was a good come back. Reds was interesting and I'm assuming "sardonic" means the same as "sarcastic", or pretty close. Would the "don't panic" line of last week, or the "show me where it is FFS" of the week before be "sardonic"?. I dunno, I took em as sarcastic but I stand corrected. As for referring to a PM which I sent on the open forum (and I do remember it although I don't save them as a rule), well I don't think that is on to be honest, I think it's poor form. This is particularly the case when the actual meaning of it, and the one you are giving the impression of, doesn't square up in my memory. I'm not going to go into what my memory tells me was in the PM, nor the spirit it was sent in, but suffice to say I'm very disappointed by your post here Red.

Leaving that aside anyway and moving onto the Alonso situation, I do think at some point we are going to have to let him go. As I've said many times I think anything over 25 mill is a good deal, but obviously I'm not doing the negotiating which is just as well.

Did it work for Villa though? They lost 6 milion in transfer fees, 4 million in wages, won feck all and lost the player twelve months later.

Hopefully the same fate doesn't befall us if we properly dig our heels in. We need to be careful, if Xabi's form was to return to what it had been for the two seasons before the last one we may find once again that there are no takers for even mid teens once we try and sell him.

Its more to the point how we fans took the Barry saga last season, calling O'Neill a ''c*nt'' or other names, which is funny because I think Real Madrid fans are feeling the same way with Rafa :D

I'm pretty sure Alonso will leave next season, IF he doesn't leave this summer and we will definitely sell him for less. However, I hope he keeps up his form and carry on what he did best in the 2008/2009 season.

Article 17 of FIFA's Regulations for the Status and Transfer of Players is entitled "Consequences of Terminating a Contract Without Just Cause", and is the fifth article of Chapter IV, "Maintenance of Contractual Stability between Professionals and Clubs". It outlines the provisions which apply if a contract is terminated without just cause, and the requirement for the party in breach to pay compensation.[9] Specifically, it states that any player who signed a contract before the age of 28 can buy himself out of the contract three years after the deal was signed.  If he is 28 or older the time limit is shortened to two years.[10][11] Article 17 was introduced in December 2004, with effect from 1 July 2005.[12]

Best I could find Joe

An example would be :-

Reports in British press on Thursday morning, suggest Brazilian playmaker Ronaldinho could invoke Article 17 of FIFA's regulations and buy up his remaining years at Barcelona to move to Chelsea next summer.

The FIFA rules say a player needs to be 28 years, must have completed five years at the same club. And the former PSG star will be 28 in March, and would be then able to buy his remaining two years in his existing contract. As such, he will reportedly be available to the new club for a cut-price £14million.

Widespread reports in Spanish press have suggested that Ronaldinho has become unhappy at Camp Nou and that has reflected in his below-par performances since the start of this season.

AC Milan and Barca’s arch-rivals Real Madrid, are also reportedly interested in Ronaldinho, who joined Barcelona in 2003.
