If scums lose ronaldo and tevez..i think it would be a chance for us to sneak past em provided we repeat our last season ends performance retaining our SPINE and cover all the mistakes done with the home draws

Do you really think they will not go out and buy other players to replace them? They done the same thing with when Bekham left and they will do it again. We need to worry about who we sign not pray on who leaves other teams.

Yeah but there will be a season of rebuilding.. so i dont think they would fly high immediately

Florentino Perez has claimed he will do "everything possible" to lure Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid, but has ruled out a move for Xabi Alonso.

Perez appeared to pour cold water on reports Liverpool's Spain midfielder Alonso could be heading to the Bernabeu.

Great player

"He is a great player but he also plays in a big team and I haven't heard any news that they plan to sell him," said the Madrid president.

"It's obvious (Liverpool manager Rafa) Benitez is counting on keeping him. That's normal, he's a good player and it wouldn't be easy to replace him."

Panic over, Alonso will definetly stay now I reckon  :;):

I read a rumour the other day that Real Madrid will have to cough up £27m to Ronaldo that was written in a pre-contract clause if they didn't sign him. Sounded like a load of poppycock to me, probably the same source that came up with the pre-contract story in the first place.

He's overdue a long-term injury anyway, the amount he rolls around when TACKLED as if he's been hit with a sledgehammer you'd think he'd been in hospital for months rather than on his feet again once the free-kick or penalty had been INCORRECTLY awarded and the chances of the "offender" being booked had evaporated. Are there any thugs left in the Premiership who can give him something to really cry about and roll around on the floor in "agony" over?

Xabi Alonso to be begged by Rafa Benitez to remain at Anfield

Rafa Benitez's failure to land Gareth Barry could scupper his entire summer spending plans.

And Liverpool's Spanish coach could be forced to beg Xabi Alonso to stay despite trying to sell him two years in a row.

Benitez, who called for the head of outgoing chief executive Rick Parry for acting too slowly in deals, was caught cold over the sale of Barry to Manchester City - and that has left him in a desperately awkward situation.

The Reds boss thought he had an agreement that would allow him to snatch the England midfielder at a cut-price because he was in the final year of his contract.

He then planned to sell Alonso for a huge fee, allowing him to generate up to £15million in profit, while finding a ready-made replacement for the Spanish midfielder.

Alonso is upset at being touted around for a second summer in succession, and has decided he will leave Anfield after the latest humiliation.

And Benitez is left with the difficult task of having to persuade a player to stay who he has repeatedly tried to sell.

His dilemma is simple. Barry was a natural replacement for Alonso and had Real Madrid come up with the £23m asking price the deal would have left Benitez with significant profit to spend.

But without Barry, there is no obvious substitute for Alonso, and even if there were, to sign a topclass international midfielder to go straight into the Liverpool team would cost more than the £23m the Spaniard was hoping to fetch.

Add to that the continuing pursuit of Javier Mascherano by Barcelona, and the Liverpool boss may find himself trying to fight off transfer bids, rather than making them.

Did Rafa even try to sign Barry? I'm sure given the choice Barry would have preferred a move to us rather than citeh.

What a load of utter :censored: that article is.. no quotes at all, they are just basically assuming that Alonso is unhappy with no source.

To be honest, I could never get my head around the whole Basque-Madrid thing with Xabi. I always assumed it'd be an issue for him but apparently not.

If he really want's to go then fine, but Rafa must milk Madrid for all he can. We do not have to sell and they have money to spend. We need to explot that.....if he wan't to go.

in simple terms it means that there is no love lost between the basque people and madrid - the capital and symbol of spain.

and that article that bav posted is one of the worst i have seen for a long time. benitez 'caught cold' over barry?? as far as i was aware he decided not to pay the asking price and barry preferred the terms at man city anway. trying to sell alonso for 2 summers?? last summer yes, this year? not as far as i'm aware. alonso has decided to leave?? where the hell is the evidence for that?

piece of p!ss being a football journo

I´m basque and I do love Spain and the capital Madrid, like the majority of the basque people.

Anyway this is not politics, this is football.
