Well, apparently Real just re-signed Negredo. If rumours are true, he might be part of the deal involving Xabi.

It has reported that Real Madrid have exercised their option to re-purchase Alvaro Negredo from Almeria for €5 million following two successful seasons with the modest Andalusian side.

Los Blancos’ director-general, Jorge Valdano, had previously expressed his desire to bring the 23-year-old back to the Santiago Bernabeu, but it is believed that the striker will not be staying in the capital for long as the club contemplate using him in as part of a transaction to sign another player.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has admitted that he would be willing to offer €12 million for the player, and according to Spanish daily, AS, Madrid could use that figure to aid them in their bid to sign Xabi Alonso.

Valencia are also in the running for Negredo’s signature and the young hitman could again play a pivotal role in los Blancos’ attempt to buy David Villa or David Silva.

Villarreal, however, could be a surprise destination for Negredo. The Castello club have reportedly made a €10 million bid for the player. Madrid are willing to consider the offer if the Yellow Submarine agrees to forfeit the €4 million buy-out clause for their former coach, Manuel Pellegrini. This would effectively take the player’s valuation to €14 million.

AS summarises that Negredo, who finished the 2008-09 season with an impressive haul of 19 goals, will be sold to the club that tables an offer anywhere between €15-20 million. If no such bid arrives, then he will be off-loaded to El Madrigal.

if they just signed him surely he can't then move again? Is there not something in the transfer laws about only being able to register with 2 clubs a season? If so, his move from Almeria back to Madrid will count as his quota because you cannot be registered with a club until the transfer window reopens.

Good point - there is a rule like that but I dont know the details.

I think its playing not signing, so as long as they don't play him it should be ok.

Im sure its signing mate - you can only be registered for two clubs throughout a season .

Maybe they just want him back as player and not make the same mistake they did with Etoo ??!?! Are people really adding up 2 and 2 and coming up with 48 thousand ?!? When has Rafa ever said he wants Negredo ?? This is the same c.rap we go through every summer and none off it comes true yet people still believe it .

Nah they are going all out to buy expensive players from all over mate. I doubt they would want him back even as backup. How many games can he expect to play there? Not saying he is coming here for sure but something seems off.
