Couldn't agree more. Anyone who won't sell us their best player for whatever we tell them the price is is a dwarf, Leprichaun, potato munching, squeeling little winging t0sser. It therefore follows as sure as eggs is eggs that anyone who shows an interest in one of our players (if Indeed Arsenal did) and doesn't instantly meet our valuation, is a cheeky cun.t.

If that is sarcasm , do you value selling alonso for 12 million even worse to a premier league rival? If we wanted to , we could ahve sold him to fenerbache for that amount

Xabi isn't a piece of meat mate.

If Xabi knows both clubs are interested, he'll go to Arsenal.
It's his signature that will dictate this.

If he's in contract then we don't have to say. If Fenerbahce offer £16m and Arsenal £12m, then maybe Alonso would opt for Arsenal and refuse to go to Fenerbahce, but he can't force us to sell him. He can buy out his last year, leave on a free when out of contract, but he can't decide to join a club for a lesser fee unless we go along with it.

It would be interesting though, might force the whole issue into stalemate with us not willing to take a hit for Alonso in order to get another CM for 50% more

I have been hearing some strange rumours that Alonso won't play in the CL game, even if Gerrard is still injured and can't play. This would leave us with only Plessis and Spearing for such a vital match (money wise) if the Barry deal is not completed in time.

IF this was true that must surely signal the end of Alonso at Liverpool. The other thing I was reading was that Gillett and Hicks have disappeared and can't be contacted to approve the purchase of Barry  (It was only in the Star but.......)

Political foulgandering take the passion from this game I think.
How can the love for our team be pure if the dollar sign dictates ownership and possession of players and resource? Certainly it will only be the richest club that win the membership, and become strategy operation for smartest money playing. Rafa is my hero, but I am sad to see this happen.

I read yesterday, mate, that Barry's already missed the registration deadline for the CL qualifiers.  So, it will be very, very interesting to see whether Alonso plays next week.  Obviously he's needed from a  footballing perspective so there's only one conclusion to draw if he doesn't play.

I have official news from Fenerbahçe:
Fenerbahçe's official site says: "Our club has not a thought to transfer Xabi Alonso." :(

you get to re-register before the group stages right? and then again before the knockout stages?

Especially with Mascherano and Lucas at the olympics, and Gerrard hurt, I think that we NEED to play Xabi.  Still should be plenty of non champions league teams that want him (Valencia  :D  )

Yes, as far as I know, mate, we could register Barry for the group stages no bother, even if he signed on deadline day.

Now this could still be a plan by Fenerbahce side. They might very well be bluffing. I think they are trying to speed up the signing process so Xabi could play next week for Fener. I still would not conclude that this official statement from the club itself is very true. Fener is notorious about using their official site for ultimatoms etc. We'll see what happens next week...
