I don't think there are too many teams out there that would/could pay £15 million or so for Alonso at the moment tbh.
Best if we drop the Barry deal now and concentrate on trying to bring in the players we really need if we are to progress. Whether Alonso will be happy to stay after recent events is another question, presumably Rafa will have to do some fast talking to get him back on board and happy again.
Juventus appear to have ended their interest in Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Don't know s@int, I think Rafa has been given more money to secure Keane and Barry.
I dont know if this is realiable or not
RAFA GIVEN TRANSFER FUNDS

Not sure about that source either metalhead.
I thought we had already used last season's CL money to sign Skrtel and Mascherano.
If the Alonso deal does not go through then it will be this season's CL money being used to fund the Barry deal. I don't want Barry and Alonso at the club, it will just encourage Benitez to play Barry anywhere else but his actual best position which is central midfield. Barry at left back or left midfield does not improve our best XI. If there is no interest in Alonso then scrap the deal for Barry, although my personal preference would be to have Barry instead of Alonso.

I disagree John, if we get Barry and alonso is till with us, then we have improved our first team.
Barry can do really well on left midfield because he can attack as well as defend (track back, etc...).
I think the 20m CL money is for this year's Champions League I guess.
