I am actually okay with the sale of Alonso if we get a decent price.

I know he would thrive in italy or Spain, but at the same time
the english league suits him very poorly.
It is a neccesity to have pace in the PL and Alonso is lacking which means he has little time on the ball which is imperative for Alonso to get the most out of his game.

I can only judge what I have seen from Alonso during his time at LFC and my conclusion is that PL isn't for him.
The last 2-3 seasons show that very clearly.

I know he a had a memorable 1st season, but he can't live on that forever, I'm sorry.

I not agree the Alonso's sale, because he is a very good player, and is one player what playing with Stevie they form a espectacular team.

Xabi is one of the best midfielders of the world (my favourite player in the world is Stevie, hehe), and isn't good this operation Juve-Liverpool

He  may be biased when he says he's one of the best of the world but the lad is bloody honest. He says that even if he knows his club will get money on a transfer.

Erreala, there are many opinions on Alonso here these days. Some of us consider him very important, others consider him good, but wouldn't mind to get money to reinforce other positions, and there are even some posters who beat the player up and call him things like "water carrier" (aguador) and would be ready to sell him for about the price Liverpool bought Alonso, when he's still 26.

For me, Alonso shouldn't sale. He is for me a very good player for Liverpool, because the midfield is in Premier and Champions League one position that has much weight, and one midfield with Alonso and Gerrard is a brilliant midfield.

Don't be if I explain.

The Mirror are reporting that Xabi Alonso will be completing his move from Liverpool to Juventus. It’s also reported that the move will be finalized in the next 24 hours.

Alonso has long been linked with a move to Italy but it appears that Juventus are not willing to pay £16 million for the Spaniard. However, it seems that both clubs have reached an agreement. More to follow.

I think juventus should fork out at least 16 million for xabi and i think if they do not rafa would have settled for 14 million with 2 million in add on's . Alonso and sissoko partnership , a good one but not very attacking

In terms of strengthening the team and squad you're right, Alonso is far from our weakest squad player and Barny would not be a significant improvement. I'm happy for us to sell the likes of Crouch, Finnan, Riise and Pennant because we can improve on them without too much difficulty. Those kind of players should be out the door before we start shipping out players like Alonso.

I mentioned before that Rafa signed twelve players that have left already, the most expensive of those was Luis Garcia/Bellamy/Morientes - all signed at £6m. Crouch cost us £7m so will be #13 to leave in only four seasons and Alonso would be #14 and the most expensive signing to leave

Rafa's most expensive signings.

1. £21.0m Torres
2. £17.0m Mascherano
3. £11.5m Babel
4. £10.5m Alonso
5. £10.0m Kuyt
6. £7.0m Crouch
7. £6.7m Pennant
8. £6.0m Luis Garcia
9. £6.0m Morientes
10. £6.0m Bellamy

11. £6.0m Reina
12. £6.0m Skrtel

Barny would be 2nd/3rd which is tragic, half his top ten have been, or are about to be, sold. It's a shame we didn't spend a bit more in the first place and sign some players that would have been first teamers for years, not some hit and miss signings that are offloaded - most within two seasons of signing (Luis Garcia lasted 3, Sissoko 2.5 as the longest of the dirty dozen)
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

Barry is better then alonso, i am all for this transfer and think that him and mascherano could create an awesome partnership in front of the back four with degen and dossena giving us the width.. if degen and dossena perform really well we wont have to buy out and out wingers which are becoming something "rare" these days... silva would be perfect for liverpool :).
