Yossi Benayoun breaks a rib

Liverpool’s Yossi Benayoun faces four weeks on the sidelines after breaking a rib in Wednesday’s FA Cup defeat against Reading, according to reports.

Benayoun, 29, spurned a golden opportunity to take the tie to penalties when he was thwarted in a one-on-one by Reading keeper Adam Federici in extra time.

The injury is the attacking midfielder’s second of the season. In November, Benayoun received the controversial placenta treatment to help cure a hamstring injury.

The Israeli captain has made 26 appearances for the Reds this season, scored seven goals.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Out of Champions' League
Out of FA Cup
Out of Carling Cup
And possibly out of Top 4 finishes.

What could have been worse is if we miss the Top 4, we will probably lose out on top players like Torres, Gerrard and etc especially when Rafa is still in charge as I dont see how these players still want to play for Rafa anymore.

For Rafa, no, it can't get any worse.

I don't buy the theory he's not sacked because of the money. I have seen no case in Spain that stopped from sacking a manager. When you are told "we want you sacked", you reach an economical agreement, that will always depend on the club economical situation, how it is the relationship... negotiations can be softer or harder, but if you are to be sacked, you are sacked.

I think Rafa can count himself lucky if he's not sacked after this. Lucky to be in a club different to anything else in the football I've known.

For Liverpool? for Liverpool it could get worse, yes, and Liverpool have known darker times.

More than the manager, I think that what will decide the fate of this club is the economical situation. Right now, the club has a reputation for big names. Big names consider Liverpool one of the options to consider, alongside other big european clubs. Liverpool have that reputation right now. Perhaps I'm wrong, but in the late nineties Liverpool didn't have that reputation for the stars of the time (don't doubt to correct me on this if someone disagrees, back then, I followed Liverpool in newspapers and when I was lucky enough to grab a game in tv, there wasn't streaming nor torrents nor the english league in tv).

But without the money, no matter what manager we have in the future, we'll lose that ability to bring those big names. And with fierce competition and Arabs spouting money everywhere in other clubs, I think it could get worse.

"can things get any worse?" Yeah, the club could offer Rafa a new 10 year contract

If Rafa had any thought for the clubs and supporters and dignity for himself he would walk. Maybe he wants his £12-15m payoff??

I used to be on the fence when it came to Rafa, but now there can only be one solution. Pro-Rafa comments are from those who are blind. In fact those who blindly support Rafa are as dangerous and damaging to the club as the owners are.

If Rafa was told "we want to sack you" and he replied "I have a contract, pay me most of the money or I'll stay", then I'd give stick to Rafa.

But if he isn't told that, what I expect of him is working hard to get the club where it should be.

How could Rafa feel right in dignity for himself front if he abandoned the team in a bad moment? Giving up in one of the worst moments in your career is not dignity for himself mate.

If they haven't been working hard up to now he should have been sacked long ago, the only people that want him to stay are from the blue and red parts of Manchester !

I won't criticise Rafa for taking a pay-off for us to get shot of him, why should he walk away with nothing when the club would kick off if he wanted to leave and would want compensation from say Real Madrid. They don't put managers on five year deals for no reason, it's to protect their rights so they can't complain when it doesn't work out how they want. It's up to the club to decide to sack him and negotiate the amount he gets. Clubs might be best agreeing a mutual termination fee and a compensation package for clubs poaching the manager when they agree these long contracts eg £10m if we want to sack you, £10m if a club wants to poach you

Oh, how many on here would get a penny if sacked................................... And we have to give notice, usually equivalent to the payment dates ie monthly paid = month notice.

depends why we were sacked. if we get laid off wed get compensation. if i joined another bookies id actually get put on gardening leave...

Gross misconduct tho or breaking the rules and wed get nothing.

things cant get worse, but week after week we're finding new ways to plummet lower to levels than we already are, so I wouldnt hold my breath
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road
