Compare his starts against the more respected Alonso and I think you will be surprised !

Obviously Alonso also played in the final.

Amazing really, it just shows how time can distort your memory. One of my most abiding memories of that campaign was the draw in Juventus with Alonso doing the old "unseen" work really well. You get caught up into thinking he was a pivotal campaigner in the whole thing, when in actual fact we had to do without him for much of it.
