And the fact you earn over the 30 grand mark means that you are earning more than any military person who does the same job as you . People in my line of work in the private sector with the same skills or maybe even less earn well over 70 grand a year plus overtime - and yet you think i should take a paycut ?

I wouldn't be happy to take a paycut but I would be willing to if I thought it was required for everybody to do so in order to turn the economy around.

I'd take a drop in my living standards to secure a sound economy for the future.

okay - how about,in principle, a 10% cut on income over 50k for the public sector? i.e. if you earn 55k, there is 10% of 5k i.e. €500 a year.

well yeah in principle i think the high earners should in same way help out a lot more than the low earners but in reality we all know that will never happen .

Here is an exampple for you - A priest in the Military earns over 80 grand a year ?!?!?!

yeah, thats a right rip off. paying that much to someone who worships someone who probably doesnt even exist.

i mean if i were dying on the battlefield, i wouldnt want a preacher praying to god for me. i'd want me mates round me for comfort in my last minutes, so i could tell them to tell my missus some personal stuff

Jesus, we just had a brutal budget. My pay is down about  7-8% but I'll take it on the chin. What is doing my head in is the media complaining that the lowest paid and the social welfare is down by about 2% (previously you could earn about 18k and pay zero income tax)

everybody is taking some hit which is the right thing.

The economic meltdown didn't really effect me until the last few months where my business really, REALLY hit a wall as did all others in my line of work

Amazing but thankfully I have a new job coming up soon in January that will pay me a solid amount

january is 9 months away?

the irish taxpayer is just taking over 90bn worth of property loans, there is roughly 20 times as many people in britain so imagine what it would do for britain if you took over 1,800,000,000,000 POUNDS (not much difference between a euro and a pound) worth of debt i.e. 22,500 for every man, woman, child so an average family with 2.2 children is 100,000 in debt - on top off their own debts.

I'm off to zimbabwe
:D

Things arent picking up at all are they?

This country is facing 15% unemployment and I can honestly see it getting worse than that. They are now saying it will be at least 2011 before we might see a change  :(
