Why not keep him? - a better option than Ngog for sure.

Matt McQueen - Liverpool 1892-1928.
Only professional to - play in goal (41 appearances), Defence, Midfield, Striker, and later be Director and then to be Manager (winning a Championship) - at one club

Get him to lose a stone in weight and he will get us 15+ goals a season. We shouldn’t have signed him in the first place but Rafa should have sorted his weight and fitness out in pre-season and kept him here.

Not the greatest diplomatica move by AV, however I can understand why he wouldn't care when a club signs him and then loans him out the very next season - and then won't recall him despite being desperately short of striker options.

Stats don't look too bad for HB this season, a SSN rating of 5.0 doesn't exactly match with the impression given in parts of the report

"5: Below Average - Some faults, out-of-touch."

Maybe if he would of been in better shape last season Rafa might have considered keeping him.
Looked overweight to me.

Possibly Rafa hasnt considered bringing him back because he cant ?
Its in lots of season long loans now that you cant take the player back as and when.

I thought he was nowhere near upto it last season, having said that the way our squad is now i would deffo of brought him back for the second half of the season if it was possible.

Is it? Voronin chalked up half a season more than Keane at Anfield, scored one goal less and the stats were comparable - the stats don't lie, no matter what idiotic saying is repeatedly spewed up as if gospel

Voronin - 6 goals in 28 apps
Keane - 7 goals in 28 apps

60+ mins : Voronin 18, Keane 22
Mins : Voronin 1586, Keane 1801

Both left on scoring "highs", relatively speaking, Keane 3 in his last 5 for Liverpool and Voronin 2 in his last 5 appearances.

But at least you've confirmed my belief that Voronin could do nothing right and Keane was given every chance, in that respect there is no comparison. We got six goals out of Voronin and paid nothing for him, Keane's goals cost £2.9m each!

That said, didn't he have a good preseason? (last season) We make excuses for Torres' dip in form due to injury, no such excuse was made for Voronin who scored 4 goals in his first 10 appearances for Liverpool - Keane took that many appearances before he got off the mark!

He could have played a role for the club, for some reason Rafa wants strikers to work out perfectly or they are shipped out. I suspect Rafa is biding time before offloading, like with Cisse and others loaned out before selling. It would have been worth bringing him back to give us options on the bench, but it's probably too late now. AV looks like he's set on a move to HB, can't blame him. I wonder if he'll be more relieved to move back to Bundesliga permanently than Keane was to get back to WHL.................

Looks sleek now and that 3rd goal was genuine class ,I would have him back as he is a genuine striker capable of the extraordinary ,,as well as the ordinary, he could play as Berbatov does for the Mancs .
I would advocate his return to the Reds, another chance maybe? especially if when  Torres isn't fit our only real threat on goal is Gerrard .

He did look good pre season yes, but thats probably when the players he was playing against were at a similar level of fitness  :D

No to be fair he started well, and he did get a lot of praise, scored a great winner at Toulouse and a few goals early on, what he never did is kicked on, and he clearly didnt appear to be fit enough when he came in, maybe he needs to be picked consistently to stay fully fit, or to stay in decent enough shape anyway.

redbeergoggles - am not one for want to big up uniteds players but to compare Voronin with Berabatov seems wildly overating the ukranian.

I said he could play as Berbatov does for the Mancs meaning the role he plays for them ( Lethargical goalhanging )  :D
Or maybe he could just sell clothes pegs or lucky heather :D
