Andrei voronin - It was early but.......................

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ciggy » Mon Feb 09, 2009 7:42 pm

On-loan Hertha Berlin striker Andriy Voronin has hinted that he would be interested in returning to Liverpool.

Voronin joined the Bundesliga side on a one-year loan last summer after struggling to make an impact at Anfield.

The Reds, though, have since sold Robbie Keane back to Tottenham, and questions marks remain over the depth of their striking options.

Voronin insists he is happy to remain at the Olympiastadion but intimated at an interest in returning to the Premier League.

He told Bild: "There have been no talks between me, my agent and (Hertha general manager) Dieter Hoeness, yet.

"We want to have talks with Berlin quickly. I know my agent has been talking to Liverpool recently.

"I still have a contract at Anfield. They've just sold Robbie Keane. Up until he joined last summer, I was getting games for Liverpool.

"They have a shortage of strikers now. I would enjoy staying at Hertha. And even if I am not to stay on, I will give my very best until the very end

How are Babel and NGog ever going to get more chances if we bring back this guy. I think it's fair to say we have been getting along just fine so far without him so I don't think it's worth bringing him in just for a few months at which point he will surley either go back on loan or be sold.

Do we want to? Based on what they've done, or more relevantly not done, with their chances I say not calling for reinforcements on the basis those two might get less chances is daft. Babel gets plenty of chances, it won't be much different to having Keane here - except Voronin might actually get a game!

Getting along fine without him?!?!? You mean dropping points and down from top spot? Yeah, that's "just fine". So you're saying because he might be sold or loaned out IF we call him back now is reason not to recall him?!?! Brilliant logic

Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

Two goals from Voronin shoots dowm Bayern and takes Hertha to the top of the Bundesliga...

VORONIN DOUBLE SENDS HERTHA TOP

Paul Hassall 15 February 2009

Andriy Voronin hit a superb double as Hertha Berlin beat Bayern Munich 2-1 to take top spot in the Bundesliga.
The Ukraine international - who is on a year-long loan from the Reds - gave the home side the lead seven minutes before the interval before grabbing the winner on 77 minutes after Miroslav Klose had pulled Bayern level.

It means Berlin are now one point clear of TSG Hoffenheim with Bayern Munich just behind in third position.

I wonder if Hertha have a buy out clause? You'd think if his form continues and they win the league they'd make a good offer for him. Maybe we could get as much as 5-6m for him.

VORONIN SHINES IN GERMANY - 01 March 2009

Andriy Voronin hit his fourth goal in four games on Saturday as Hertha Berlin reclaimed top spot in the German Bundesliga after a 2-1 win over bottom club Borussia Moenchengladbach.

The Ukraine international - who is on a year-long loan from the Reds - gave Hertha the lead with an excellent finish.

The victory means Berlin are now one point clear of Hamburg who take on Wolfsburg on Sunday.

Three-goal Voronin sends Hertha four points clear

Hertha striker Andriy Voronin scored a hat-trick to steer his team past Energie Cottbus 3-1, after the hosts had taken an early lead.

Cottbus took the lead against visiting Hertha when an Atan Cagdas free-kick after 20 minutes went through the legs of goalkeeper Jaroslav Drobny.

But Voronin, on loan from Liverpool, headed Hertha level in the 34th, and the Ukraine striker struck again from close range just before the break.

He completed a fine hat-trick with a minute remaining when he went past three players on a run into the penalty are before firing into the net for his 10th league goal of the season (18 starts and 1 sub appearance).
