EVERTON VS LIVERPOOL - F.a cup replay

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

bigmick wrote:Anyway, I've been correctly criticised recently for not sticking to the topic in hand. To go back to that, the FA Cup was a distant third on my priorities (like anybody cares but you know what I mean) so as such I'm not too gutted that we lost.

I do think it's a major concern that we don't make hardly any clear cut chances, and I do find it a bit of a worry that we couldn't beat a team who essentially sat in and worked hard three games in a row, but there you go. Hopefully nobody else will have noticed that Everton essentially sat in deep and looked to score from well worked set pieces. The reason I say that is we were no nearer working out a mehtod to counteract their tactics by game three than we were in game one of the trilogy. You could even argue that if we were playing them again at the weekend we'd be second favourites, which doesn't say a lot for our tactical nouse and adaptability at the moment.

If that team, with no strikers and kids on can beat our team made up of the mighty sqwad, then there is something badly wrong. There is a pattern emerging (Im not talking about wooly jumpers)and its not a very nice one.
Draws and losses to sh!te teams should be unnacceptable. But it seems some on here dont mind?

I think its more of a case of where you attribute any blame that troubles some. Blame Kuyt or Lucas and you're on to a winner, blame Rafa and they descend on you like a pack of hungry wolves.

"Take responsibility for" might be a better phrase than "take the blame for"?
If we win its Rafa technical nous and tactical genius. If we lose its the "rub of the green" and "unforseen circumstances".

Sorry, everton is a great team though, so it's something that can happen.

In the other hand i have two tickets for Real Madrid vs Liverpool.
The greatest match of this year.
Great tickets, near the field, so not cheap, and in the center and beside Liverpool VIP fans.
Talk to me in private if interested

Unforseen Circumstances. Would this be the "You see it, I see it but rafa doesnt" argument?

Meh, id be wasting my time just trying to explain the wrongs...ooo scrubs is on !

Ok, as an afterthought. Rather than comment on your feelings about rafa or players. Look at the match, im guessing you watched it, then add comments which people like myself can say "very good, forgot about that incident (or moment)" then offer a better reply. Or just continue along this same tedious route that has been carried by many other members of this forum without a good explanation of the match itself on how your views are based. You know the ones, Rafas useless, why is Kuyt being played, why was Lucas played blah blah blah.

Offer reasoning to your views as to this match and maybe, just maybe, we can relate. Otherwise its just the same ole same ole...

In fairness, any attempts to sensibly talk about the game and what went on are smothered before they got off the ground.

Also, it's worth pointing out that it was such a poor game, so bereft of any inspiration from either team that the injury to Gerrard and Lucas were the only really significant talking points.

From a playing point of view, I thought to be honest that Jagielka was excellent, but other than that nobody stood out. Kuyt ran around even more than usual, Riera continued his descent into mediocrity and Alonso looked off colour. Lucas I thought did Ok before the sending off, and it looked to me like we adapted the zonal marking system to allow Kuyt to man mark Cahill. I thought he did a good job of it too, aside from risking giving a penalty away on a couple of occasions. I thought the young kid who scored the goal got lucky, but the black kid they brought on to sit in front of the back four looked like he'll make a footballer to me.

Can't think of anything else to add really. We barely made a chance in the game.

Of course they did, and even now just trying to get some kind of decent response from Sir Roger, its smothered.

Its hard to get good honest evaluations these days, all the posts are about are the same ole.

Look at Leon when I pressed him, he gave a great response. Im pretty sure the negative posters can offer something, or perhaps, maybe not. It puzzles me, they have a greater voice than the pro rafas, look at JBG's topic for instance. That was last year, it gets tedious reading the same sh!te over and over..

Yup Mick . That worries me because it shows that Gerrard is our source of creativity and opportunity of getting goals. We should get more creative players i guess but for the rest of the season, just hope to God that we can still challenge the title until the end using our current resources.
