Well, i dont know about anyone else but i ENJOYED that!

Two torres goals, 90mins out of fernando, a clean sheet, no ridiculous subs (oh no there was one) and lampard got a red card to boot. i nearly cried with laughter!

Come on the red men!!!!!!!!!!

YOur point is spot on pal. I didn't think the goals were coming.

One thing I have noticed, Dirk Kuyt when he gets the ball wide, instead of whipping in a cross beckham esq, he just plays short passes on the edge of the box, we lose posession, then have to track back. he never crosses the ball, so why play him on the right? ????? I would play benayoun or pennant (is he out on loan??) from now on. why buy pennant if you ain playing him?

Benayoun is better and showed it when he comes on.

good result, but its just one game.

wasnt woried by chelsea and we should have won by 4.

Never a sending off for Lampard, or even a yellow for Lampard in a Million years. Lampard stayed on it would have been a draw. x

one positive we havent hit form and are only two points behind. surely we can only get better.

I thought this result would be good for confidence, we had good momentum up to the newcastle win in Dec 08, hopefully this win will get that confidence back. Momentum and confidence. Keep it going guys!

Keane left out of sqaud?? Bust up? ???? We have 20 Odd hours to sign back Michael owen to win us the title.!

:eyebrow  :eyebrow

Owen is injured good call tho I seemed to add alot to newcastle today from the stands he smiled like a pro.

You got to be kidding? Gerrard was awesome today, absolutely superb. Turned up all over the park, his touch was immense and his passing and movement was excellent. He was at the heart of everything we did and was the best player on the pitch by a country mile.

A much needed victory from the team today, which keeps us in with a shout. The hardwork isnt wasnt done today, the challenge will be to keep up the winning until the end of the season, because we are going to have a chance were gonna have to win most of the games from now on.

Thought it was a decent performance today, against a Chelsea team who look even more toothless than we are at the moment. The defence coped with the little they threw at us, and the fullbacks both have good games, constantly getting forward and looking to make things happen, it was all the more remarkable considering that both Riera and Kuyt were absolute rubbish today. Alonso and Mascherano had the better of the midfield battle and kept the possesion well against Ballack and Mikel, who barely got a touch. Gerrard looked to get forward at every opportunity and kept us going, dont remember him being cheap with possesion all game either. Kuyt was awful so was Riera who was very poor in possession and looked like he was out of ideas after about 20 mins, Benayoun improved us when he came on, with some probing passes and link up play. Torres was lively, and took his goals well, im still sure he hasnt hit top gear yet, but the signs are there that it will come soon.

There were though still some negatives, we lacked ideas in there half of the pitch, though we did step it up when Chelsea went down to 10 men (disgraceful decision IMO, but f.u.ck. em, we always get bumped vs them) i also thought rafa left the correct subs a bit late, we took Mascherano off and changed to 4-4-2 with about ten minutes to go, which i thought we should of done when Riera came off, as Chelsea were showing nothing going forward and were clearly playing for the draw, but we got the result eventually so i wont complain to much.

Anyways onwards and upwards hopefully

It was a good result but we shouldn't get too carried away. Yes this will go some way to boosting morale in the dressing room which should help to take the heat of Rafa but history has shown that we drop points to the lesser sides so we have to treat every game like today if we want to still be close enough to Utd to pounce come a few months time.

Good performance today but I was sitting there with that feeling of inevitability (much like the Arsenal game at their place) for the last 15 minutes of the game. It didn't look like it was going to be our day but one peach of a cross from Aurelio and a cracking near post run from Fernando and suddenly we're back in the mix. Massive massive win and hopefully a turning point in the season. I'm just hoping to hell that we;

1/ Sort out the manager's contract in the next week (the uncertainty isn't helping anyone)

2/ Sort out the Robbie Keane situation. If he's going, get on with it.

3/ Go and buy/loan a forward who can come in and contribute immediately, preferably a bigger player who can deal with the physical side of the game.

4/ Pure fantasy here but why not hijack Arsenal's bid for Arshavin if Keane goes back to Spurs. I fu..c...k...in love this player and can't bare to see him in an Arsenal shirt.

BERMENSTEIN!!! :buttrock  :buttrock

Ive just PM'd him to start Wednesday's game

I'd prefer if he kept his magic for the big games

Your name is Toffeehater and you dont think an FA Cup replay
away to Everton is a big game? WTF?

FA cup game and a top 4 game in the league , yea i know which one i'd choose  :rasp

Rafa could put out an inept team against the bitters, so I'm not gonna risk the "vibe" over a very unpredictable line-up :)

Just wanna say that Benayouin should be playing as often as possible. He really added the attacking element when he came on. If he got a serious run of games, we could start turning those draws into wins, as he scores & creates.

It was more or less 10 v 10 out there as Kuyt had a shocker, again!!
Works hard, blah blah blah, but he hasn't got what it takes to give Lpool the cutting edge. The sooner the better we get a real Right Mid.

It was a good Lpool performance, with Chelsea having very little to offer due, to Lpools solid defensive unity throughout.
It means Liverpool have completed their first league double over Chelsea since 1990 - the last time they won the title.

Now, the Next 24 hours should be very interesting regarding Robbie Keane.....

bigmick wrote:Yes Kuyt's performance was perplexing at best, exasperating at worst. There are times when his touch is so bad, so awful that you wonder if he's not a non-league player who has won a Jim'll fix it prize of a game for his favourite team. There is no doubt that his form such as it was has tailed off a bit, and although the fate didn't as it turned out befall us today, it's easy to see why we sometimes struggle to break teams down.

FWIW I didn't think Riera was much better either today. I thought him and Kuyt were by some distance our worst two players. After his midweek performance and todays cameo, I never thought I'd hear myself say it but Yossi Benayoun surely must be knocking on the door to replace one of them.

Thankfully today i thought both full backs for us were excellent, with Fabio Aurelio being our man of the match for me.

that has to be one of the worst post's iv'e  ever read on this forum mick, especially from someone i quite look foward to reading from!! words fail me! WE HAVE JUST BEATEN CHELSEA, LET'S ENJOY THE MOMENT, HAVE A BEVY OR THREE & NEVER STOP BELIEVING!! fickle fans - we never use to have, in recent times we have more than our fair share of! we won ffs we are still in with a shout of the title let's enjoy it, i'm loving it & know it will continue,if the players show the passion ,belief, & determination they did today & that for me includes kuyt!! his work rate & effort for me is never in question. keep going dirk lad shut the boo boys up!

Wrong mate.

Despite a decent performance, Petr Cech cost them that game.  So far out of position for Torres' first it was ridiculous!!!

I'll take it though :buttrock

in a way i agree mate , i thought the ref had a fecking shocking game! he got in the way of one of our attacks ffs! he made the game stop, start for a while with his petty descisions, although lampard was late with his challange, descisions equal themselves out over a season for me so no disput from me, i also think that before that we played really good football,& showed urgency in creating chances when it mattered.

finally i was really impressed with the kop today! the songs, atmosphere was in full flow from start to finish, i only hope it continue's - fickle fans feck off- those that believe keep singing!!

And he plays for one of the biggest clubs in the world 90 min every game.

What facts are wrong?
Can you keep a straight face telling me he has better technique than a championship player?
I sure can not and not many others watching the games with their own eyes.

It's like the story about the emperors new clothes.
Just cause the emperor(Rafa in this case) says the clothes(Kuyt in this case) is great even if there are no clothes(no skill in this case) everyone forces themselves to believe it.
Work your *** off and pass the ball back is the ticket to success, because the emperor says so... :suspect:

:D  makes me think aswel.. Well just get used to him until the end of this season.. next season hopefully we will have a proficient replacement... A NATURAL right mid player

1st of all I am elated we won today. A must win and just a relief to get off that slump and to see the real Torres back in action.

But...
I just couldn't see anything come of that right handed side for the whole game as long as Kuyt was there.
What does Kuyt ever create during a game?
Where his creativity has made us getting a scoring chance or a goal?
either he passes the ball back from the wing or he floats into the penalty box trying to pounce on a rebound from a chence someone else has created.
Frustrating having a spot filled up with such a limited player.

And it isn't just that he can't dribble, becuase then he should use his pace to get past a player or at least whip in a good cross.
Or that he has no pace, because then should be able to dribble past players or whip in a good cross.
Or that he can't cross, because then he should be able to dribble and use his pace to get into the box.
The problem is that he hasn't even got one of those skills!

And MadMax, hand on heart, do you honestly believe Kuyt will be gone next season?
No chance....

yet kuyt had a hand in both goals or did you fail to notice that ?
