Yes Kuyt's performance was perplexing at best, exasperating at worst. There are times when his touch is so bad, so awful that you wonder if he's not a non-league player who has won a Jim'll fix it prize of a game for his favourite team. There is no doubt that his form such as it was has tailed off a bit, and although the fate didn't as it turned out befall us today, it's easy to see why we sometimes struggle to break teams down.
FWIW I didn't think Riera was much better either today. I thought him and Kuyt were by some distance our worst two players. After his midweek performance and todays cameo, I never thought I'd hear myself say it but Yossi Benayoun surely must be knocking on the door to replace one of them.
Thankfully today i thought both full backs for us were excellent, with Fabio Aurelio being our man of the match for me.
