Fernando Torres tips Manchester Utd for title
Liverpool striker Fernando Torres believes Manchester United are favourites to win the Premier League title but that everything will come down to Liverpool's game at Old Trafford on March 14.

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has admitted that Manchester United are clear favourites to win the Premier League title

Liverpool lead the league by four points from Chelsea but Manchester United, five points in arrears, have two games in hand.

"Firstly United have two games in hand and if they win both they will be top of the League. That is certainly possible for a team of their quality.

"We respect them totally for the class of players they have. Many of them are among the best in the world. They're the clear favourites to win the title. We're working hard to compete with them and finish above them, and we're on course to achieve that.

"We know the chances we have. We have to go to Old Trafford and we will play Arsenal and Chelsea at home and we shouldn't drop more points like the other day. I think United have their chances as do Chelsea and Liverpool. We have to fight till the end and we'll see what happens. Few teams can win the Premier League today and we can be champions this year.

"I think the game at Old Trafford will decide the title. If everything goes as we expect we think we will go there in a similar position to now to that game. We will have to play our game to try and get a result in a ground where in the last few years has not been good for Liverpool."

The tension between the old rivals has escalated over the last week, with Rafael Benitez and Alex Ferguson immersed in a very public and personal spat but Torres insisted that what goes on between the managers is between them and does not bother the players.

"The statements the managers are off the pitch where they play their own league. I don't know their motives it's their own thing. So I can't say much.

After demolishing Chelsea 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday, United have it in their hands to claim lead iin the league from Liverpool. They are five points behind the league leaders with two games in hand, playing Wigan at Old Trafford on Wednesday night and Bolton at the Reebok stadium on Saturday. Liverpool do not play until the Monday night, when Everton visit Anfield for the Merseyside derby.

Torres has struggled with hamstring injuries this season and has only just returned from his latest month-long spell of recuperation, coming on as a substitute in Liverpool's last two games. However, he should be ready to start against Everton and start to find the form he showed in scoring 33 goals last season.

"Of course I know how important it is for the city and the fans to win the League after 19 years. From the day I arrived it was clear to me that the most important competition to win is the League, even more than the Champions League. I know we have a great opportunity. We're fighting with Manchester [United] and Chelsea to win it this year. We have our chances as do the others. We will fight till the end and we will try to finally win this title for the club that has not won it for such a long time and to continue being the team with the most titles in England."

I will take some consolation that Ronaldo was not selected in Messis dream team. But there was no Torres or Gerrard in there either.

With that article though how on earth does that mean Nando tips Utd for the title? These idiots really take things out of context.

Interesting interview in Nuts Magazine of all places :D  ( I just happened to be passing a shelf with a copy on and thought I would read it )
:;):

Hi Nando ! Are you looking forward to the Mersyside Derby ?

For sure. I'm just happy to be playing again, Being injured was very frustrating because I hate sitting in the stands while my team mates fight to win matches. I'm a bad spectator.

Two games against Everton, three goals scored. That must give you huge confidence ?

I am happy with the record but it will mean nothing in this game. Everton are a very strong, physical team so we will have to match their intensity and I will have to be at my best to score.

What does the Liverpool V Everton match mean to the foreign players ?

We all know that the city almost stops for a day. The fans are so passionate about this match that it transfers to the players and we give everything to get the right result. I have been involved in a lot of similar matches back home and I know how bad it feels to lose.

We have to say, Liverpool seemed to cope pretty well without you...

Yeah ! I never like it when i hear people say that it is only one or two men who are the most important - we are a team and its the eleven players who win or lose. If big names like Steven Gerrard or Xabi Alonso cant play, we have others who can perform at a high level.

So the big question. After almost two decades. will Liverpool win the title this season ?

Yes-if we keep our belief. Theres a great confidence in the dressing room, especially after being top at Christmas. We know that there is a long way to go but everyone is really happy and enjoying what we have achieved so far. The next step is to win trophies.

Premier League or Champions League ?

I would be happy with either, although the Premier League is vital for everyone because Liverpool has such a big history in this respect. Winning it means we would be in the hearts of Liverpool fans for years to come.

Why did you dedicate your return goal against Preston in the F.A Cup to Steven Gerrard ?

I just wanted to say that we are all behind him. He is one of the best players in the world and a fantastic captain. He has been very kind since I came to this country - as a player and  a man , he is on a different level.

You know, some fans say you are Liverpool's best number nine ever.....

I could never compare myself with legends like Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler. If I can score the same number of goals and win the same trophies, I will be very happy !

Great interview there dundalk!

Throughout history, Italy beat Spain. We have the game, we have the players, but we always lose.

‘And then, when we beat Italy, and on penalties, I think we celebrated more than we did when we won the Final, because we knew. That was the key.

‘It is the same with Liverpool. Winning at Chelsea, winning against Manchester United, these are the results that give us belief — then, if we get a result at Old Trafford in March, it will be our Italy game.’

Torres is class, really down to Earth from what I've read. Im betting on us to win 1:0 in the Derby with him the scorer, he's got a good record against them

About Kaka, I was having a convo with a mate and I said I'm always suspect about South Americans coming over here to play. I cant really think of many that are successful over here, particularly goal scorers, any shouts? ???
