Jermaine pennant - off to valencia on a bosman

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think all pennant needs is a run of games and towards the start of last season , he was  playing very well because he had featured regularly before that . There was a point where he was even rumored to be called up for england . On current atttiude , i would not put pennant back into the side because kuyt has been doing a good job there , far better in terms of goals ratio and he tracks back which pennant hardly does . Pennant must work hard and show he deserves a spot in the team , until than its kuyt , stevie , yossi or babel for that position

thing is its just about off-pitch attitude when it comes to pennant.. if people just come out and say they dont want him to play cuz hes a kuunt id understand but then they come on and try to argue his football and impact and it starts sounding rather ridiculous...

hes not the best around but considering what we have down the right side i say hes more than good enough to start for us now..

anyways i expect him to be gone in a few days anyways ... shame he wasnt given a chance to show his worth this season..

Aye, he's a better player than Kuyt will ever be.

I bet Pennant is a real pr1ck though which is probably why he is not played. Rafa seems to only play nice people which is perhaps a bit naive but ultimately a good thing for team morale.

The problem with Pennant is he was too inconsistent. But then again you could argue if you dont get regular games its hard to keep any level of consistency.

This is a first time post prompted by people attempting to defend this lazzy, money grabbing idiot that somehow managed to play for the club we all love.
Simple facts show his contribution 3 goals in 81 games a shocking return.
Compare that with our other wingers (Kuyt excluded)  Babel 12 in 69 and Reira 3 in 22.
Quality wingers should contribute in the region of 8-10 a saeson from midfield as they are esentially an attacking option Pennat offers no goal threat and that alone shows hie is not good enough. In addition to this his delivery usually consists of chiping in lazy ball and when not doing this he seems obsessed with cutting inside and attempting to run as fast as he can towards the other touchline taking up all the central midfileder space.
Terrible attitute, Terrible professional and very avarage player.

Before its pointed out I know my spelling is shocking, I will attempt to read over posts in future but just put it down to the frustration of reminding myself Pennant is a Liverppol player !

I know he has a bad record for us but does anyone not think if he was played more often he might have developed more consistinsy? (is that spelt right? I dont care cant be arsed to look it up im going to watch Little Britain USA).

Anyway it looks like his fate is sealed it's just a matter of getting him to accept the offer.

But wasn't Pennant already a "real pr1ck" when Rafa decided to sign him?

I think the key reasons he isn't played are because :-

- he doesn't score enough, even for a wide player
- he doesn't work hard enough (defensively), something Rafa holds in high regard
- his crossing is at best inconsistent
- he can beat his man, but how often did he and where was the end product?

You could add in his attitude, but that is probably reflected in his performances and the above 'critique'. The sooner he leaves the better, he's clearly not in Rafa's plans and the minute he leaves we can start forgetting he played for us - until someone a few years down the line suggests we sign him again!
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

Nothing wrong with his work rate or his end product when he has the options to hit.

What is a problem with him on the pitch is his lack of goal threat and also the amount of fouls he conceeds through petulance.

He is a good player however and given a choice between him and Kuyt at right midfield I know who' I'd pick everytime and it wouldn't be the dutchman.
