As has already been said twice, Crouch wanted to leave and turned down the offer of a new deal.
How uninformed are some of these "fans".
Not having a go at you bazza, just them fkwits who had the cheak to have a go at gaffa without even knowing the facts.
The couldnt even get Lucas`s name right ffs.

Oh FFS it is not that simple. Of course Crouch would stay if Rafa promised him first eleven place,or the role R Keane has... Do you get it now?

Well, since promising him a first 11 place at Liverpool was never going to happen and since he can't do the role Keane (or Kuyt) plays (the mobile 2nd striker that drops deep/pulls wide looking for the ball to feet) it's a bit of a moot point, isn't it? ???

Against West ham, stoke,Fulham? he could do better than Keane...
I want to say that we had only 2 strikers last season,Crouch was one of them. Kuyt is winger for Rafa. Rafa couldn`t promise to Crouch anything to Crouch, even he was second striker in the club! It is obvious that Rafa wanted to sell him. Just like J Pennant,eh?

I agree Crouch was an asset and I was sad to see him go.  I'm not sure Rafa wanted to sell him...I think he would have preferred him to stay so he could use him off the bench.  The reality, though, is that the big man wanted consistent 1st-team football and was someone we could get a decent fee for in a summer when transfer funds were tight.

I agree with bad Bob. Crouch didn´t want to be on the bench waiting for an hypothetical injury of Torres.
He wanted to play week in week out, and that was impossible with El Niño at his best form.
Pennant nothing to do with this.

but Pennant is just sitting there. i rather he moans and expresses his desire to play like Crouch. Pennant doesnt want to join another club even if it means playing...which is what every footballer wants to do.

I don't think Rafa deserves to be slated like that, he deserves some respect.

However, fair criticism is justified about his tactics, team selections and man management, but calling him a muppet or a ''Clown'' or a ''fat c*nt'' is way over the line for me.
