It's only October! It's bonkers to think our players could be knackered.

It's either bollox or they are doing too much in training.

Mind games... I hope. It'd be good to see that Rafa was pulling the wool a bit with player availability / condition.

Keep Scolari guessing as long as possible.

I think he has.  Not sure about Torres but I'm fairly certain that Keane, Gerrard and Alonso will all play and that no one at Melwood is actually doing any "sweating" whatsoever over their fitness, despite what the papers say.  IMO, that was a big smokescreen to try and disguise the fact that Rafa brought them all off early midweek to save them for this match.

Its going to be a tough one this, IMO their title favourites and their almost back to full strength. Chelsea have been picking up points with an injury ravaged squad, thats got to tell you how strong they are.

I'm sure Keane, Alonso and Gerrard will be okay, I hope for once Gerrard turns up for this fixture and gets stuck into the likes of Terry and Lampard. He's often looked as though he doesnt want to upset his England teamates while they go hell for leather against us.

He will need to inspire us and lead by example on Sunday for us to get something out of the game IMO. I'd play with five accross the middle and as LFC2007 said, stifle the f.uck out of them.

Rafa has said today that gerrard and alonso would be fit to face chelsea but keane remains a doubt . Not that good with 2 of our first choice strikers out . Hopefully kuyt can do the job upfront on his own or with babel , torres looks almost certain to be out !

GERRARD AND ALONSO FIT FOR CHELSEA
Paul Hassall 24 October 2008

Rafael Benitez has today revealed that both Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso will be fit to face Chelsea on Sunday - but Robbie Keane remains a doubt for the clash at Stamford Bridge.
The midfield duo were both involved in training at Melwood this morning and now look set to retain their place in the side for the top-of-the-table match with Luiz Felipe Scolari's men.

It was a major boost for Benitez, who will make a late decision on Keane, who missed training with the pelvis injury sustained against Altletico Madrid.

Benitez also revealed that Fernando Torres will definitely not feature against the Blues and remains on course to make his comeback from the hamstring injury he picked up on international duty, against Portsmouth on Wednesday.

"Xabi and Steven both trained today and should be okay," confirmed the manager. "It wasn't a hard session but I am confident they can play at Chelsea.

"We're still not sure about Robbie. He didn't train today and we will have to see how he is tomorrow. We will make a late decision.

"Fernando won't be involved. He is recovering well and should be fit again soon, but we have to be careful with the player."

I'd leave Torres out of the Portsmouth game too, just to be sure. No point rushing back

The lads just need to dig in and produce a gritty performance, bite their ankles the whole game and not let them get into their rythmn.

Repeat the Manure gameplan should do it.

If we win, this should give us the confidence to go all the way, if Chelsea win its their title this year.

With Chelsea coming up on Sunday this is a concern.

ummm.. time for Rotation  :D

The thing is chelsea don't look like slipping up . Holding them to a draw at the bridge is an achievement anything else would be a major bonus and than we have to prevent the slip ups

I am talking about CONFIDENCE Lee.

If we win this one then we know we can beat any team (Manure, now Chelsea) and go all the way.
