We never lost when Crouch scored, not surprisingly we haven't when Keane has scored, but I think Torres has scored in a game we lost, but not in the league (happened to notice the other day, I'll confirm the game now)

*wanders off, well doesn't move but  :D *

Technically if you count the extra time defeat to Chelsea then that is the game Torres scored in and we lost, if not then I don't believe he has scored in a losing cause.

We haven't lost this season so that rules that out, 2007/8 we lost :

Champions League

L0-1 at home to Marseille (no scorer)
L1-2 away to Beskitas (Gerrard scored)
L2-3 aet away to Chelsea (CL, Torres scored & Babel) - if you count that as a defeat, I see no reason why not as we lost

Premiership

L0-3 away to Man Utd (no scorer)
L0-1 at home to Man Utd (no scorer)
L0-1 away to West Ham (no scorer)
L1-3 away to Reading (Gerrard scored)

Domestic Cups

L0-1 at home to Barnsley (no scorer)
L0-2 away to Chelsea (no scorer)

I think that covers our defeats last season, bl**dy Gerrard and Torres are a curse!  :D

He is the best foreing scorer in his first season in the premier history. The last one was Van Nistelroy who scored 23 goals in his first season with ManU.

Was that the season he scored eight penalties? (mostly given by Mike Riley I expect  :D )

Quite surprising Torres doesn't take our pens, although probably equally hard to take them away from Gerrard who has become a good taker

torres has a shocking record at taking penalties. i think he's missed over half of the one's he's taken.

Actually from the Spanish point of view a Welsh like Rush isn't considered foreign to an English club, so it's not to say much, but Torres is better than the Baros, Bergers, Morientes, etc.

haha sabre... that's a given already that he's better than, bergers, baroses and morienteses. don't really need to say it out loud. We'll have to see whether he's better than the owens and the fowlers which IMO is a more relevant comparison... I think that he has the potential to outperform even these recent great strikers if he stays fit and keep up is form... but of course i know you're talking about our foreign players but we didn't have many great foreign strikers if we don't consider the scottish and the welsh and the jamaica born john barnes...

Torres Dreams of Scoring Against United in CL Final

Torres Issues Form Warning
Thu 09 Oct, 10:09 AM

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has warned the rest of the Premier League he is edging closer to his top form.
Torres, who enjoyed a fantastic debut season at Anfield last term scoring 33 goals in all competitions, had a slow start to this term by his own high expectations, scoring only once in the club's opening five Premier League games.
The 24-year-old has shown he is almost back to his brilliant best with a brace in each of his side's last two games at Everton and Manchester City and says there is more to come.
Torres believes he has been playing catch-up due to Spain's involvement at Euro 2008 where he helped them win the tournament with the only goal against Germany in the final.
"Me and the other players from the Euros started back in pre-season later than everyone else, and as a result weren't in the best physical shape," said Torres.
"Last year was very long for me. I played nearly 50 games with Liverpool and then went straight to the Euros. But I'm getting better each day and I'll soon be 100 per cent again."
Torres is also hoping to build on his success with Spain by helping Liverpool win some silverware this season.
He added: "It was a great experience and the first big honour I've won. Now I know how it feels to win something like that, it makes me even hungrier to win trophies with Liverpool.
"I came here for that reason and hope this season will be better than last year.
"I believe we can win the Premier League or the Champions League. If we did that, it would be fantastic. We have started well, so there is optimism.

"But I'd be happy with just 20 goals if we won the Premier League or Champions League."
Torres also revealed he dreams of scoring against Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League final.
The former Atletico Madrid man has yet to find the net against Liverpool's biggest rivals and he knows scoring against them would further endear him to the Anfield faithful.
Torres missed Liverpool's win over United last month and he is determined to get one over on the Old Trafford outfit.
"Every player wants to score against their biggest rivals. It matters so much to the fans and I know it would mean even more to ours if I scored against Manchester United," he said.
"Unfortunately I didn't get the chance this season. But I'm hoping I'll have an opportunity to do so at Old Trafford after Christmas, or maybe in the cup - or best of all the Champions League final.

"It was a little unusual for me watching the recent game against United but we won, and the most important thing was the fact we proved how strong the squad is."

is anyone else concerned about what they've seen from torres so far this season... or is it just me?

i know he's scored twice in consecutive games and was probably unfairly denied a hat trick in one and missed a sitter for the hat trick in the other. of course its great to have a player that can do not much during a game then suddenly come alive and score a couple to win it, but there is something though in his body language and his general play that is bothering me. he's getting brushed off the ball a lot more than he was last season, his touch seems to be a little more iffy and some of his passes are horribly misplaced. too often i've seen him doing that little 'cisse shrug' or mouthing off at the ref or linesman after one of these mistakes. he's had a long season last season, then a world cup, then a little injury, so there are plenty of reasons why he hasn't picked up where he left off. the worry for me is that i don't see where he is going to get that spark back with little chance for a rest this season.

maybe i'm being a little over critical of him after he set the bar so high last season but i really don't think we're seeing the nando of last season yet. hopefully we will because IF we are going to have a tilt at this title we really need him on song.

I agree he's not firing an all cylinders yet. Just a matter of time, not a cause for concern I'd say
