Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I've noticed this season, that we don't win many games 1-0. We either don't score, or go on and score 3,4,5 or even 8 if you're Beskitas.

I'm struggling to recall a 1-0 victory at all this season, in our favour. 2-1 against Everton I suppose is still a 1-0 victory but again it's a game we've won by scoring more than 1.

Is it because once we're in front teams have to come attack us and leave much more space, or is it just a goal gives the players confidence to go out and play their natural football, which when on form is as good as any in the world.

just a thought that's been with me for a while, and again today, we were playing poorly, then with Crouch's goal it seemed to kick start us and low and behold we get another two goals to win 3-0.

any ideas?

4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Ye we simply dont have a good enough team up front to break teams down . Hence if we score 1 goal the other team have to come at us to try and get back into the game , leaving space behind the back ,luckly we have the pace to do something .

And we seem to just come alive if we score a goal the players actually want to have to ball and do something consructive with it.Equally if we concede the ball the other team get a bit cocky and try to attack more the secure the lead but infact they are leaving more spaceat the back , then we use our pace to counter attack and score a goal .

My main point is that we dont have the players to break teams down no matter wat team it is , if they put 10 men behind the ball we simply cannot get through that wall.Bit obvious to point out but its our main problem !!!!

probably why we've drawn so many games this season.

Just looking at the statistics there and i was surprised to see it !!!

Drawn 10 thats embarrassing !!!

I think we've lost less/equal then the top 3 so thats not bad, but 10 draws is bad the ony other thing team is fulham has the same record!!

I find asstonishing to see 10 draws, up until Fulham played Wigan, the night before we played West Ham, so that would be Tuesday, we had drawn the most in the league.

You can look at the positives and say at least they're not defeats, but off the top of me head I can think of 6 draws at Anfield, which as far as I'm concerned isn't on. We should be winning every game at Anfield or at least be the better team on the day. Arsenal, Chelsea both managed draws at Anfield which I suppose is understandable, but Birmingham, Spurs, Villa and Wigan taking points off us from Anfield is beyond the joke.

It's the draws that have done us, no question, particularly those at home.

Had we beaten the likes of Birmingham, Spurs, Wigan, Villa, and Boro we'd be up there.

Yep and all this talk bout rafa going would be gone and the pressure wouldnt be at boiling point !!!

But i still think Rafa should be manager for 1 more or 2 years . I think he has raised our level up and also has the competition.
I dont think another manager would do any better if he came in the summer .

But back to it , and the draws dragged us down but thats football for u .The way i like to look at it is that we not better than manu, arsenal or chelsea but wen we play them we always want to win and sometimes we do , so why cant other teams come to us and do the exact same thing to us !!!

Although the Boro game was away and we never do well at the Riverside, it's still a game we SHOULD of won, along with the numerous draws (and defeat) at Anfield.

But speaking about what should of happened and what did happen is pointless as we can't change it, alls we can do is we hope Benitez has learned from his mistakes and it makes us a better squad for next season, but of course we don't know who'll be there next year depending on our qualification for the Champions League or not as the case may be.

Very true and i think Benitez is already doin the business by making a sub at halftime ... Amazing i know but obviously coped on to aurelio's lack of talent !! and noticed Kewell lack of anything really and had a dig at him in the post match interviews !!

So hopefully will pull a rabbit out of the hat and yet again become a tactical genius , i think he was going through managers block or something over christmas .

A lot of people were impressed with Kewell's form at the back end of last year. The goal against Spurs at Anfield springs to mind. But I think this year he's shown the fans nothing of what he's capable of and I think the fans have finally lost faith in him. They always stuck by him, but at long last their patience has run out and so has Kewell now.

Injury hit fella who couldn't hold down a regular starting position. Let him go in the summer and get him off the wage bill.

5 million for him at the time looked like a bargain, shame he hasn't been able to rekindle that form.
